Mate, I just wanted to thank you soooooo much, and so sincerely, for your great tutorial. I have (very) long waited for a clear, concise but nevertheless precise techically and comprehensive explanation of the differents types of networks in VirtualBox, and what they meant precisely. Your explanation is just : * easy and simple to understand * with loads of graphics that are really helping * very precise technically * very comprehensive * very pedagogical, but without any undesired simplifications All what is needed , and just what is needed. Other tutorials on the internet that deal with this specific theme are sooo confusing, it is unbelievable. Nice to see how much things turn to be clear, when you know what you are teaching. Congrats, and I repeat : MANY THANKS, 👏👏👏 You made me win soo much time

Bravo sir! Amazing explanation!! I was trying to route my traffic from one VM to a VM running a VPN then out to the internet. Bridged seems like the best way to do this. My goal is to use the VPN server to encrypt my traffic then use proxychains to change geolocation to eliminate the captchas when using tor.

I use another way to set up network. It based on host-only network,windows host as gateway. Windows can share network from one to another network card,. I share wifi to the host-only virtual network card,and all vm join this host-only network. Set up dhcp and make sure the gateway ip is the virtual network card on host(windows will force change it to 192.168.137.1) VM should be able to access network,and since it is the host-only network,vm and host can communicate each other

The only thing which I'm not sure of understanding is why would a VM on a NAT network have the same IP adress as a VM on another network? What's the reason behind this?
@absprog Жыл бұрын
It might happen, but there is no guarantee that it will happen. Think of it like that - assume that you have a router at home. The router is connected to your isp and it creates your local home network. Assume now, that your neighbor also has a router at home. Remembering that each router defines its own local network and also serves as a local DHCP server, it’s very possible that your laptop and your neighbor’s laptop have the very same IP address. The two routers are not aware of each other and can’t know which local ip addresses the other router has assigned. There is no way to know in advance whether or not your laptop and your neighbor’s laptop will have the same IP address, as they are in different networks. That’s also the case for vms in different NAT networks. Every VM is behind its own virtual router and the routers assign IP addresses independently. It’s possible for the two VMs to end up with the same IP address and it’s also possible they’ll have different IP addresses.
@andromilk2634 Жыл бұрын
@@absprog Thanks, makes sense said this way. Those IP adresses are local to the network, but they are not the ones used to connect to the Internet, is that right? Or else, you would have several VMs sharing the same identification. I think they have the host's ip if I'm not mistaken.
