Lisa, I love your paintings. My studio space flooded last year and I'm putting it back together now. The silver lining in this tragic mess is that the insurance settlement has allowed me to get NEW art materials. So, I have switched my entire focus to some different kinds of art, including cold wax and encaustic. I'm getting very close to FINALLY being able to start doing artwork again!

Judy, So sorry to hear about your studio being flooded. But great that you are almost ready to be creating again! Sending good vibes for your new studio and new art materials! Thank you for watching my KZbin channel!

Lisa, when you tape the sides of your cradle, how do you finish the sides off? Do you paint them or leave the wood? I love the look of the wood but feel I should cover them with some kind of sealer. Also, could you tell us what colors you used in this painting? I love it!
@LisaBBoardwine5 жыл бұрын
Candice, I like the edges to be left natural. However, you can paint the sides, stain the sides or cover them with a sealer. I leave them natural, because they can be lightly sanded when necessary, to remove smudges. The colors were on my palette from a previous painting session so they were somewhat mixed. But there was Titanium white, ivory black, asphaltum, Chinese orange, ash blue, green, transparent earth red. Then I mixed different variations of these. Thanks so much for tuning in!!

@@LisaBBoardwine Thanks for the quick reply! I like the natural also. I have just sealed the sides with a clear matte medium so that they don't get dirty.

You are most welcome! The clear matte medium works great!

Lisa, would you mix clear gesso with acrylic paint and use that as a colored base layer?
@LisaBBoardwine5 жыл бұрын
Sally, you can mix clear gesso and acrylic paint to make a colored ground. If you want a more opaque color- mix with regular gesso! Thanks for watching Sally!!

Would acrylic Underpainting work as well as the coloured gesso? Angélica Lynch
@LisaBBoardwine5 жыл бұрын
Angelica, yes an acrylic underpainting would work, just be sure the entire surface is covered before adding the oil/cold wax! Thanks!

Thank you for your work... Ive disliked this only because the grey it was done with the second application of dark brn/black everything else was like trying to stop a car form sliding on an icy road... It survived... But way far past orange n black perfection.

Thanks for watching my videos! I paint very intuitively and I enjoy trying different color combinations. Sorry you did not like this one! I am happy with the way this piece turned out!

@@LisaBBoardwine as long as two people are happy everything is all good! The creator and the buyer ;) never stop doing you :) i just gave my personal opinion about "where i liked this piece aka STOP HERE" but im a spectator not the artist nor a buyer so, what i says just thin as the wind... But to speak on the end i do see the lake wave in the foreground and the hills under the sky... And its cool... ;) happy painting

@LisaBBoardwine5 жыл бұрын
Connie, Thanks for watching, I have many videos which explains everything about oil and cold wax painting, check my video playlists for more videos.. Also, there are lots of videos and books about the medium now, google it and I am sure you will find what you are looking for. Thanks for watching!
@333Judy3335 жыл бұрын
There are BOOKS on the topic (see Amazon) and you can Google for all the information anyone could possibly need to get started. There are other KZbin how to videos. Do a search on Cold Wax.
