I'm not one for abstract art but I actually loved this one. At first I thought it was like an autumn landscape but when it was finished it reminded me of a galaxy, then I got all romantic thinking .....oh it could be the landscape showing a galaxy of the autumn colours lmao. Yeah so I know nothing about interpreting abstract art obviously. But then does one need to be an expert after all art speaks to everyone in different ways because it shows each if us what we want to see not always what we're expected to see. At the end of the day you have created something, Katie, that's quite beautiful, meaningful and versatile in my mind and for many others, that's successful. I do believe thus one will sell fast if it hasn't already well done.

"i know nothing about interpreting abstract art obviously." No, baby. Not true. You see what you see. You feel what you feel. There is no right and wrong. I saw and felt what you did. If I contemplate longer, I'd likely see more and different. We're only limited to our imaginations, our moods, our feelings. I think that's the point. Seems fun.

As an abstract artist myself - I find having a few wines helps as you do not over think it. Just get a canvas - get some paints (not oil - it's a nightmare) and colors you like and just go for it! I've done some terrible ones when trying to 'copy' people - better I just do my own thing. Super fun - do try it. I have four of my artworks hanging in my house (the good ones)

So beatiful! I love abstracts, but painting them kind of scares me a bit. Like you've said too (I think), it's always so difficult to know when they're finished.. :-) The spray at the end, is that the same as varnish or something? I've been wondering if I should start using "something" when I'm finished with a painting, but I really don't understand all the different versions of it and how to use it. Maybe that could be an idea for a shorter video? I would love to learn more about this.

Lauren Anderson you get them from a hardware store, they're called paint scrapers. They've got replaceable razor blades you can get for them. Don't get the plastic ones, they tend to slip and can be dangerous. Get the metal kind, it'll last you :) I guess originally they are intended to scrape paint off of windows after painting sills?

Lovely result, but what are the stages? Also, it's hard to determine your steps when so much of the video cuts back and forth to other items, and so many frames have been cut out because of "time lapse". Thank you.

C'mon Katie, that's just a bunch of bright colours sitting next to each other with a tiny bit of blending and some tube paint paletted on top. That is not art. That is pretty bright colours sitting on a canvas. Good abstract is many hours of work built up in many layers. Have a nice day.
