Katie I have been painting and teaching for years and I have watched many tutorials, but I must say that your use of color and your style on anything you have done is so beautiful. Your use of colors and their complements are amazing. Your vlogs are not only beautifully done; they are amusing and cheery and relaxing all at the same time. Thank you for all your hard work from a very appreciative admirer. Cheryl Martin

I am so grateful for these tutorials. I can paint but it takes me months and one took me 10 years but it was a little bit each year as it was when I visited my in-laws in the Czech Republic. I cannot believe how quickly you do it, so I feel you are helping my speed and therefore my development. Thank you. I do share my paintings on Instagram & Facebook but I always put the link to your tutorials. Hopefully my Facebook friends will discover you.

I love the beginning of this video especially when you spoke of copyright. It was good to have a heart-to-heart with people about the subject of copyright. People may think that because the painting is done on a tutorial that they can copy it and sell it. But you are right when you say that it's copyright to sell it. I love your work by the way.

I’m sorry that people are copying your work. I love your tutorials and painting along with you, but they’re all on my wall, gifts to family, or in my closet because I’d feel so shameful if I sold any. I’m in the process of learning and I see all the people that upload tutorials as my teachers so that one day I can create my own art with the lessons I’ve learned from you all. Thank you so much for the tutorials I really do appreciate them. ❤️

I want to thank you so much for your vlogs of all kinds. I have done several of your tutorials and learned ever so much. Your other videos have given me inspiration, solace, and a sense of calm. Art is new in my life, I find it intensely satisfying, equally frustrating at times and it has become as important to me as anything I have ever encountered. Your calm, almost serene, presence as seen through your videos has been supportive and generative. Thank you

You are fantastic! Thanks for your words about copyright. I do struggle with this a little when I’m watching tutorials and really try to bring in my own style/preferences because even if I’m not going to sell it, I don’t feel comfortable painting something that looks too much like someone else’s creativity. I just stumbled upon your channel and love it. Thanks for all you do to inspire other painters!

Love the magazine bit. I myself often find inspiration in images as well and is often not the image portrayed but rather color play or an emotion it may inspire. Now I have trouble with abstract, not because I dont understand it or appreciate it but because I have a hard time "letting go" lol

Also, I'd happily buy these in udemy. My second painting ever was Christopher Clark's impressionist fall tree. I never ever thought I could do that. I think it's great to do paint-alongs with highly talented people like you. Everyone's process is different so you'll pick up bit and pieces from each person. Over time, my guess is that your pupil will grow into doing their own work. I think you're a great teacher.

I love abstract art and your process for creating the “theme” by choosing colors/mood from magazines is brilliant! The best tip I’ve ever heard for how to START your abstract......I I am an encaustic monotype focused on abstracts and I will definitely be using these tips in my own work, thank you!

I love your videos! So peaceful and uplifting, even with difficult subjects like copyright. I just want to let you know you are absolutely right about the ethics on this. I’m an artist in the US and we have laws protecting artists from “derivative works”. I didn’t know about this when I first started drawing and sold prints of works I made from photographs. After finding out, I contacted the photographer about it and he was so understanding and simply asked me to stop selling, but let me keep what I had made up to that point. Since then I know better ;)

Hey ! I'm a huge fan of yours. I see you not only as an artist but also as my teacher . Watching your tutorials really helped me get acquainted with acrylics and paint my own paintings . Recently i have watched a tutorial by you and i really liked the reference picture . And i can say i didnt follow what you did . I looked at the reference photo ( thanks for the link ) and i painted it my way . And i think it's one of my best works ever .. i was wondering if it still counts as copyright violation. ( The painting doesn't look exactly the same either..)

I just found you and you're melancholy mood over the copyright infringement is affecting me too. No one has the right to copy and sell your work. I've heard it said there has to be at least a 15% difference to escape patent violations. I don't know what the copyright law is other than NO!, DON'T!. You do beautiful work and it seems natural the predators would want to copy yours. You seem beautiful too, and it comes through your work as well. Keep going Katie. If you can afford it, Maybe an attorney can help. At any rate, I'm joining your group of learners. If I knew what to say to cheer you up I would.

i understand you totally with the selling an artwork that is not yours part though i have a question. Most of your tutorials are based on a photograph though i dont know if you make them yourself or buy them/ use free to use ones. If it aint your photographs and we also just buy the rights and paint the photograph, isnt it legit to also sell them? this is really just a question since i dont sell my artworks anyway. im just interested how you would see that?
@KatieJobling
@KatieJobling 6 жыл бұрын
Awesome question! Really, we shouldn’t be using any photograph to create a realistic painting unless it is our own, or a Creative Commons license. Then either way, we can use the photo how we see fit. Hope this helps answer your question! 😄

Katie Jobling yeah it does thank you very much for your quick answer😄💕
@ViviBytch
@ViviBytch 6 жыл бұрын
Just to add on this question. If the majority of the photos you use for reference have a Creative Common law, meaning we can do with the picture we see fit. Doesnt that mean neither you or I have right to copyright? If the picture has a CC than anyone can use it and paint it and sell it given the fact that it is not own by either party do not own the picture itself? Whats the difference between lets say, me and another artist who use the same refreshing photo that has a CC, and we both paint and put that painting up for sale? Thats legal, correct? The only reason Im asking is because I’ve never really thought about copy right and would like clarification.
@SpiritLadyArtist
@SpiritLadyArtist 6 жыл бұрын
Yes creative commons anyone can do the painting and give credit to the original artist. I do that in what I paint as I know there is nothing new under the sun. So I use CC and just ask for credit of the idea.
