I love how you say "It just feels right, there's no textbook." It's SO true. I've only started painting about 14 months ago and it's been the best discovery of my adulthood. And painting just feels good and you just "know" when the painting is done. Just add and subtract until it's right.

I absolutely love your channel! I found you at one of the toughest times of my life after a car accident. I was stuck in a wheelchair, having lots of physical pain, lost my career and ended up so depressed. I decided to give painting a try to keep my mind busy. and after looking for artist on here to follow I found your page. Your videos would get me through some of the toughest days. I appreciate your humor and great attitude. I am still learning and such a newbie but just appreciate you taking the time to make these videos for us newbies. Your channel has been a blessing for sure I am very grateful. Have a wonderful day buddy.

It's fascinating how the easel support in the background where he has put the canvas looks like a contemporary impressionistic urbanscape.

The painting peacked at 10:20... Great energy, straight forward. From that moment on it just got complicated and lacked porpouse. Keep it much simpler, make it a rule to let the painting go in half the time you are used to, and retake the painting in 2 or 3 days if needed.
@fichboy994 жыл бұрын
Agree with this, not sure about the brushed additions after this. Interesting to see the emotion communicated and how that effects the artwork post 10min mark. Much more subdued 2nd half.
@vinnieviddivicci54593 жыл бұрын
I don't agree. The touches of colors after 10:22 make that piece pop. Before 10:22, the painting was static.

Nice technique and freedom, Jose. I find that working wet into wet is best, as you show, with initial layers done with a palette knife. When using the brush, you have to load it with paint, hold the handle tightly, and work very close to the surface, to stop from creating mud. I'm experimenting now with Copal medium and Lavender Spike Oil, to do pours and glazes. Lavender Spike Oil is incredible as a substitute for turps or odorless mineral spirits. Thank you so much for your tutorial. It is helpful.

Jose, I love your art and your spontaneous flow. Without getting too "Serious" or trying to define you, I would like to hear you talk about what you're presently painting as you paint it, and the materials & colors & strokes used, and why you're painting it as you are. I think that would be very helpful in sharing directly your creative process.Sincere, but not serious.

This is my favorite kind of art. And for me personally it’s hard to replicate. I’ve tried but I just can’t get it to look this good. I over think it.
@milamiles27 жыл бұрын
You are a true abstractionist. It is more natural to you than impressionism. But that is not criticism, just an observation. Love this piece, and if I had more time, i would listen to every single single of your commentaries too. There is that love for the art and it spills over with wisdom. 😊
@JoseTrujillo7 жыл бұрын
Mila Miles Thank you so much!! I love that!! I feel more and more, an abstract painter too. :)
@milamiles27 жыл бұрын
Jose you don’t have to feel abstractionist when you are one. I am a realist/impressionist painter and I have to concentrate hard on painting abstractions and the best ones come to me only accidentally. I can never for the life of me get a good abstraction intentionally! That’s how you know what kind of artist you are more. Please keep doing abstractions and the world will be a better place, since another person is doing exactly what they were called (by God) to do. Again just my view of the One Truth. 😉

Awesome abstract, I love your work. I used to work with oils years ago and I am using acrylics now, but there is "nothing" like working with oils. I am 65, so I thought acrylics will be great for easy clean up for me, I spent too many years cleaning as it is~~I deserve to make my life easier, lol. There is lots to learn about working with acrylics, I have the most problem with blending acrylics, as they dry pretty fast, so I ordered a blending medium. I want to be able to use paints right out of tube and not fuss with this, but I will try it. I used a thin layer of water soluble linseed oil over canvas, it works awesome for blending my acrylics, even though I screwed up my painting, ouch. Do you every use acrylics? You are funny and interesting to listen to~~~you even give life lessons~~THAT is extra special. Thank you for your inspiration.
