What a wonderful comment - thank for your kind words, Ingrid! ❤️❤️❤️ I’m so glad you have been enjoying my videos! 🥰

I'm glad that you didn't add stark black & white, because the pieces are subdued and fairly pastel. The really stark black& white might have dominated the whole thing and "fought" with it.
@jackieschomburgartАй бұрын
I agree. That’s exactly why I resisted the black and white piece - it would have disrupted the whole vibe ❤️

I’m new to your channel and enjoying your videos so much. Your voice is very soothing to me. I’ve gained the confidence to paint for the first time in my life and I’m 48 years old. Thank you for helping me find my way with abstract art bc your videos have played a major role in my artistic journey. 💜

Is one of those collage pieces, one of your kid's math papers? I love that idea!
@jackieschomburgart2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is! 😂 The kids bring home SO many papers and realized I could use some of them for my own work! 😆

Love how these turned out! I used scratch paper for 2 pieces which turned out to be duds (IMO). Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Thanks Peggy! You might try it again sometime - the best thing about using scratch paper is that you literally have nothing to lose. There can be great freedom there. 🤗 Happy thanksgiving! ❤️❤️❤️

Love these Jackie ❤Thought about you today while I was doing the 'paint-all-over-then-cut-it-up' thing -- I don't have your color courage (yet) though so they're a bit tame -- maybe I'll try the brush on a stick :) Always inspiration in what you share.
@jackieschomburgart2 жыл бұрын
Never underestimate taping a brush to a stick! 😂😂😂 (but really, it’s my secret weapon!). How did it FEEL after you cut up the larger paper into the smaller sections? Did you feel like you were closer to the finish line? Keep going! ❤️❤️❤️

@@jackieschomburgart It's a wonderful technique -- I *love* the 'non-thinking expressiveness' of it and the fact that you have no idea what the individual pieces will look like -- it's very much like partnering with the unknown and that's where the best (and most fun) art comes from. I've left them for a while and will go back to them as a kind of chapter two (though I'm already having a few ideas) -- I'm definitely going to try the brush on a stick too :)

“Partnering with the unknown” is a great way to describe it! Have you read Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert? I’m rereading it now and that phrase reminds me of how she describes parts of the creative process. I feel like her thoughts on ideas/inspiration getting impatient with us might interest and entertain you. ❤️

@@jackieschomburgart I read it a long time ago -- I do love hearing her when she's interviewed & I should read it again Thanks :) I recently watched a conversation where she mentioned being deeply confused about why she wasn't feeling any inspiration at all for a next novel, decided to give up spending time on Instagram, and was back writing within days -- I don't actually do 'social media' (except watching artists on YT!) but I can certainly sense how it would be an enemy of the frequencies of where art comes from. She's definitely a carrier of artistic wisdom (another one is Julia Cameron, did you ever read/do the Artist's way)?
@jackieschomburgart2 жыл бұрын
100%! I’m sure my social media time hurts me creatively, yet I also feel like I need to keep up with instagram to help my art business…. It’s complicated 😆 And yes, Julia Cameron is amazing - I LOVED the Artist’s Way (another one I’ve been meaning to re-read and re-commit to doing morning pages!). So thankful for these women sharing their wisdom with us ☺️

Very very nice! I love the thin layers. How do you get them 🤔. Is it basically that you put down paint and then wipe away the most of it? You often use glaze - what is that actually 🙂? Greetings from Sweden ❤
@jackieschomburgart2 жыл бұрын
Hej Eva! Jag tala lite svenska! (My grammar is probably terrible but I studied Swedish in college 20 years ago! ❤️) Yes, glazing is essentially using transparent paint (thinned with water or a wet cloth) then wiping it off. And doing this over and over again to slowly build up layers ☺️
@evalindstein38372 жыл бұрын
Did you study Swedish 😃? That’s cool! How come you did? I will try the technique with thin layers 👍. Tack så mycket 😊❤!
@jackieschomburgart2 жыл бұрын
I did! I took 5 semesters of Swedish and double majored in Psychology and Scandinavian Studies in university ☺️ My mom’s side of the family (my great-grandparents) is from Sweden, Norway, and Denmark and it was so nice to learn more about where we came from. ❤️❤️❤️ My husband and I visited Sweden (Stockholm and Goteborg) and Denmark (Copenhagen) for our honeymoon too.

Amazing 😀. I live in Gothenburg. My parents actually came from Finland, they moved here after the WW2. But I was born in Gothenburg, 1958. I love Finland. It is so interesting to learn about your roots 👍. We went there every summer when I grew up 😊. Beautiful childhood memories ❤️. Have a nice evening 🥰❤️

Do you just use copy paper for your scratch paper?
@jackieschomburgart Жыл бұрын
Hi Catherine ☺️ Sometimes I use copy paper, but most of the time I use 50lb-80lb drawing paper. I buy it by the ream of 500 and it’s pretty cheap.
