It’s a very legendary group. You have Suho (the leader) who won best leader in Kpop for many years, you have Baekhyun who holds the title for most physical copies sold for a solo singer (twice) at 1 million copies. There’s Kai who countless times won idol of idols being put up against 100 other idols. D.O who is seen as one of the best up and coming actors in South Korea. On top of all this every single one of their solo and sub units have won countless awards, platinum status and being covered by countless other groups. This group is the reason I joined Kpop and you have to check them live. Strob effects, them being launched up in the air from under the stage, pyrotechnics, raising platforms, water effects, the list goes on. I just can’t not rave about Exo.

Originally exo was a 12 member group who were divided into 2 sub groups. exo-k with 6 korean members produced music in korean and and exo-m with 2 korean and 4 chinese members produced music in Mandarin Chinese. after their first few year together 3 of the 4 chinese members left the group for various reasons that we respect leaving them as a 9 member group. They have a huge catalogue as a group and in their sub units and solo music. currently there are 2 sub units in exo. exo-cbk and exo-sc. you are in for a long journey with them. this is a group who is not afraid to experiment with their sound. You should check out their chinese member Lay's solo music. think you'll really like his music. highly recommend by lay: honey, loose control, and lit ***side note exo have a whole alien+superpower fighting the red force concept.

Speaking of 0.2 sec sold out concert? I'm already crying because I might miss their next concert. It's indeed a struggle. A battle with millions of fans. They be selling concert tickets in less than a minute. The EXO’luxion concert in 2015 and The Lost Planet in Seoul sold out in 0.4 seconds, while The ElyXiOn in Seoul and The ElyXiOn [dot] sold out in 0.2 seconds. Their live vocals and performances are top tier and even better. Most members are in the military while Lay (a Chinese member) is still in China. Btw, Lay is one of the MOST popular idol-actor-model-CEO in China. Gosh! We're all waiting for the Vocal Kings comeback.

What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. You see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members are playing 2 different characters -- there are only 6 people in this MV.) X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc. To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and It is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept -- and since then, everything SM Entertainment does branches off from that storyline. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers. Now you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So to really understand their full origin story you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO-M version focuses on the M members and their powers. However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 members.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group. So each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop and it has made us question everything we have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline. The MV starts out with the red and blue light because it's supposed to represent how EXO are currently battling with X-EXO and the Red Force for control. In EXO's MVs when you see red light or anything that is red, this represents the Red Force, and when you see blue light or anything that is blue, this is thought to represent EXO. Therefore, when you see red and blue in one scene or purple -- red and blue mixed together make purple -- this is showing how the line between the two sides is being blurred and they are fighting each other, etc. Since "Obsession" some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovering that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time. With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV. Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in "Obsession," those outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs. Which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. So it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, EXO has gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT/WayV -- to help them battle the Red Force and maybe eventually take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K 💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. Just been reminded Lay is the absent Member, working in China at the moment. He released a Solo track full of Aesthetic, I was very intrigued, who knows if he will return. Chinese Idols do have to deal with some rascism, but are fiercely proud wanting to fight for Worldwide recognition. By the way I do know that 2 Chinese Members left, not sure about third Member but returned to their own Country. Ztao being one &, the sadly infamous Kris Wu. As you go down this endless rabbit hole that is EXO, you will discover soooo many masterpieces in their discography. There are also so many experts in the fandom (called EXOLs) that have incredible knowledge of EXO history as you will see when you react to more of their songs. I am not one of them lol. They have a somewhat complicated history with different number of members and sub-units within the group and an ongoing storyline conceptually as group. The fluctuating # of group members is largely in part due to the fact that they all have to enlist in the S.Korean military within a certain age bracket (18-29). Anyway, it's always nice to see first time reactors to EXO, as we get to re-live our first moments when we discovered them. There is so much talent in this group it will MAKE YOUR HEAD SPIN! I would suggest you go through their biggest hits as a group before you go and explore their solo work. They all have, I believe, solo albums with the exception of the maknae (youngest) of the group. If this is incorrect I will get corrected I'm sure. Their iconic MVs that I can think of are Call me Baby, Tempo, Love Shot, KoKo Bop, Lotto, Lucky, they all have similar cinematographies in color. They also a whole slew of black and white MVs in their early years and I'm sure you will get recommendations along the way. Of course their best performances of all the songs are their live ones! This video is about EXO (the good soldiers with black combat outfit) fighting X-EXO (their evil Red Force possessed twins). Duality concept to go with their worldview. There's a lot going on in their worldview storyline, and EXO-L are having fun guessing theories on the storyline each time they have a new project coming out, either solo or group, because they keep everything in 1 big continuation. We're waiting for the next project for their 10th anniversay in April this year, and a 30-second teaser for 1st member Suho is already running great!
