I think this is actually lip synced over a studio track. BUT there are several videos of him doing this at casual fan concerts where he does, indeed, sing it just as impressively while sitting in a chair. Amazing.

This gorgeous version of the song almost didn't get released. During lockdown, Austin was recording some covers for his patrons, but his lady felt his new channel lacked content. He wasn't at all confident that his version of the song was good enough but she went ahead and released it . By the end of the week, it had gained thousands of views and now has 11 million+ views. He says it taught him a lot about what people want, that a direct informal style gave the voice room to be enjoyed. I hope it also taught him to listen to the lady who not only loves him fit to bust but was responsible for a large part of his solo success and in so doing gave him a great boost to his confidence. Rumour has it that the slight shadows on Austin's face are the result of a black eye sustained during home improvements. Steven Martinez is a very accomplished arranger and producer, and produced Austin's originals for several years, including If I Met You Now, which really deserved to have as much success as this one. There is a stack of covers on Austin's channel which they created during lockdown. Why Georgia (John Mayer cover) is particularly successful, I think. I really enjoyed your reaction. Thank you!

The Righteous Brothers had a big hit in 1965 of this classic song & it is one of my favorites. Sadly we lost Bobby Hatfield almost 20 years ago. He had a beautiful one of a kind voice. But Austin Brown did a very beautiful tribute of this song. Please also check out Home Free's version of this song. They just did it recently & it is a very beautiful cover.

This is such a beautiful song and Austin Brown surely does it justice. So few singers can. His voice is wonderful. For me, I do prefer Hatfield’s version for the deeply emotional quality… that sense of just holding back until the end when it slips his control in a desperate cry. That’s what brings you to tears.

There are originals on Austin's channel as well: "If I Met You Now", "Earn It" and Rest of My Life" among them and a wonderful cover of "Beautiful Soul". He & Tim Foust, along with 3 other songwriters (Chris Chatham, Jeffrey East & Ernie Hanks) and Laura Marion (a violinist) have started a side project "Sweet & Low Music Co." They intend to pursue it when they're not touring/recording/ making videos with Home Free and doing stuff on their own channels. There are a couple of live streams on y/t.

Your right his voice and talent is on a completely different level. That was his partner Steve Martinez on the guitar. You should next listen to the Home Free version of this song. They pay homage to the original song which was a movie song for the 1955 prison movie “Unchained”. It is a completely different style (doo-wop) than the 1965 Righteous Brother power love ballad style. It is very very good. Thank you for your great reaction and you have a blessed day.

Just to remove any misunderstandings (!), Steven is Austin's business partner and good friend. I can't say I care for the Home Free version - you can have too much doo-wop, and I'd had enough after about 5 seconds. The result of the attempt to marry a free-form ballad to Tim's obsession with ultra-strict rhythm forms and a section of Austin doing the sky-highs was, to my ear, bizarre. The timing of the HF version also raised eyebrows, since this version was still in the first stage of the stratospheric hit it has become. Was the HF version trying to exploit Austin's success? Who knows.

What I like about this especially is that it’s simple and not overproduced so that his voice is the other instrument. That’s why one of my fav older albums is Johnny Mathis Fireside and Two Guitars(and his one voice) nothing else. Also I love Kenny Rankin. Peaceful, While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Also the late singer Eva Cassidy. She turned old classics into her own classics. Her voice is an instrument like this guy. Thanks for sharing this with us
