I bought a used one but the ratchet is really soft and quiet and the sound is really muffled. What could that be?

The ratchets on these reels are not the loudest but it is possible the spring may also be slightly worn which would make it even quieter.

@@VealsMailOrder2898 my reel will release the line with the ratchet engaged with a loud ratchet sound but when I reel in the ratchet disengages a little bit so the ratchet is only half on? Could that still be the spring or is there something else?

@@skillburn957 The Ratchet is only really designed to give a warning when line is pulled off of the reel. When you wind in it makes the ratchet go 'backwards' which is why it isn't as loud.

@@VealsMailOrder2898 of course. I have a Penn 525 and another Abu 6500 and they both have the loud ratchet sound when reeling as well as releasing line so I thought there might have been something wrong with the newer one. Thanks for your help 👍🏼
