It's 15 days later and I'm still in a surreal state of mourning. I "discovered" her in 1975. Have been a mega-fan since "Grease" (1978). I've been lucky enough to see her in concert about 6 or 7 times. And have met her face to face twice. Amazing! Thanks for honoring her at this time, especially.

I was in 6th class when Grease came out, my grandmother took us to the cinema to see it. I remember like it was yesterday. Not just an angelic beautiful voice, such a beautiful soul. I still remember when ONJ was a new and budding artist. I liked her but not overwhelmingly so. I thought she was one of those girls that was trying to make a singing career based primarily on a very pretty face. And then she sang this song. I was blown away by her amazing vocal range to those high notes. After that, she could do no wrong in my book. RIP sweet Olivia. You were loved on a global scale.

Such a sad day! This was my first movie I saw at the drive in. I was 7 years old and have seen it about 200 times since. If I see it on TV I automatically stop and watch it regardless 30 mins or hour into it. She did make it look so effortless. Pure talent with a beautiful soul. She fought the battle for 30 years, 30! So many unfortunately don’t make it that long. It really hit me when I saw John’s words when he ended it, “Your Danny, Your John” 😢😢😢 ughh so heartbreaking! RIP Olivia, Sandy! 🙏🏼

Olivia's singing career goes back to at least the mid-1960s. There are several short videos of her singing in duet or solo on some Aussie tv shows. Olivia's main priority in the past decade or so was the ON-J Cancer Research Institute which she was instrumental in building into a major research and treatment centre in Melbourne. According to her niece, Olivia's strong dedication to push for greater levels of cancer research and also a holistic approach to the disease was probably a key factor in Olivia surviving as long as she did before eventually succumbing.

I have been i love wiith this woman since 1972 (i was 8). i was lucky enough to see her twice in concert. Once in the US and once here in the UK. She was a wonderful person as well as a total superstar an although she always classed her self as an Aussie and rightfully so. Becausse she was born here we were blessed to own a part of her and be proud of her. She was then adopted by the US but she had enough star qaulity for the whole world which is now a slightly darker place without her.

Thank you for this. I hadn’t heard that Olivia had passed away until I just randomly did a search for reactions to her videos and I saw “RIP Olivia” on a video title, which triggered my response of “What??!!!” I did a Google search and learned that she had passed away from metastatic recurrent breast cancer. I’ll be honest, as soon as I saw that, it hit me really hard and tears started to well up in my eyes, which I didn’t expect. I think it’s not only because I was a fan (and in love with her) as a teen when she had her big hit songs, but because she was a genuinely nice human being.

LOVE ON-J..............thank-you for sharing the reaction to honor Dame Olivia Newton-John. Having grown up with Olivia to admire and watch her career unfold, it was exciting to discover her warm and impossibly feminine voice early on and watch her grow. Confidence was always Livvy's sexiest look and her talents as an artist greater than the sums of her musical parts. I DO HOPE YOU CONSIDER MORE ON-J REACTIONS to include songs like A LITTLE MORE LOVE, CARRIED AWAY, MAGIC and some live songs like SOUL KISS in Chile and SAM from her PHYSICAL tour, THE KEY from her UNICEF concert and even Olivia's live version of this song, HDTY from her 1979 tour in Amsterdam to see not just Sandy sing this song, but to experience it from the singer to emote and make hers to connect with you like you were the only one in the concert hall. How lucky to have placed my affections in an artist who evolved as a superstar to a philanthropist and icon with her compassion to find kinder ways of treating cancer with her ONJCWRC. Lucky us who could appreciate her gifts to share as a role model. There will never be another Olivia Newton -John.
