Nextbase 312GW Deluxe Dash Cam

We've got two of the 312GW dashcams and while one was fine the other was a little flakey until the firmware was updated. The hardwire kit is usually pretty easy to install though in one of our cars we found that not only was the front cigarette socket always powered but all fuses were always powered too!

Yeah we have that problem. We have to unplug it each time we get out the van

Yes we got the 312GW last year for the van. It takes really good footage that I've used occasionally for You Tube. Good think about it is that the mount will just fit under the blind, so you can just remove the dashcam.

I hardwired a Thinkware 770 with front and rear Camera. Really easy, nice quality. It can film or make time-lapse when parked. And within a week it already was worth the money, when a bus made a hit and run while parked. Both Police and Insurence where happy - and we to ;-)

Hi.How did the dash cam work out with the windscreen blinds, I have the remis type blinds and am looking for a dash cam that will allow blinds to close without having to remove it.

It's fine. It doesn't need removing when I close the blinds

Just remember that these are illegal in some countries in continental Europe e.g. Austria. Just check the regulations beforehand.

Great review i will be getting something similar to this when I get my California.Just received your California camping mugs in post it's great to have them just waiting on my California.Im not sure whether to wait till 2018 or buy a demo model.My local Vw has the ocean in 4 motion with over 15000euro of extras in same colour as your van.Are there many changes to the 2018 model as I haven't seen any pictures yet.Thanks

Thank you so much for your order. The support means the world to us. The changes I've seen are a new split job and sink cover and some new lighting in the cupboards. Not sure what else there is I'm afraid. Hopefully we can have a look when one appears at a dealer near us

Can I ask what the idea of the ferrite loop on the cable is for ? Does this cam cause interference to the fm radio

That's what that loop is for - to stop the interference with the radio I believe.

Yeah I ordered Jeeves to sort out a replacement windscreen so it's all sorted now. Yeah Lizzy loves the new lighting in the Cali 2018. I love the split hob and sink cover too.

Ive hard wired mine to the fuse box using a piggy back fuse. Nextbase sell the fitting.

Can this be articulated to face rearwards for those moments when you have a 32 ton lorry trying to knock you off the road because you are obeying the speed restrictions on a motorway? That seems to be the place of most driving madness to me - just consider this last weekends deaths in one single incident, for example. Would love to know of any camera that can be easily swiveled around for when you need it to point backwards - and stand a pretty good chance of it recording what you want. Or is two cameras the only option? :( Cheers.

I'm not sure if you could turn it on the move, I'd have to try it out but it can be mounted the other way round. In something as big as the VW California I think you'd still need two cameras as it would be too far away to see much behind.

Many thanks. One more question, if you don't mind.. :) I watched all your previous episodes and read all the comments too. Was thinking about the "loo" situation. I saw that you had bought a "porta-potty" and said in the comments that you "got it out" ready for use during the night (and that fighting off Bentley was the only real issue during use! :)) I wondered, do you actually put it on something to raise it's height? It's just that the videos I've watched of these porta-pottys make them look really small, height wise. I'm not sure my tall frame and old'ish knees could deal with squatting almost to floor level.. Just curious. Thanks.

Hi, we don't put it on anything and it's certainly very low but if you wanted you could put it on something. Maybe a box that fits over it when travelling and then you could put the loo on top of the box when you need to use it.

I agree about the driving in the U.K., I'm in N, Ireland and the driving here is diabolical and we have no police to do anything if they could be bothered, we pull a caravan and every clown on the road has to pass no matter what the conditions are or the areas too, great video, cheers

Got mine today, tomorrow i will use it for the first time. I had bought a few cheap Chinese crappy dashcams in the past but the mount felt apart as i wanted to hook it on my window so now i was fet up with that cheap bullshit and was looking for something beter. In The Netherlands some drivers drive like shit, they try to push you off the road if you are on the highway if you are not driving fast enough according to them even though you drive the max speed limed, gaining from the right and so on so a dashcam is a good thing to have to get those motherfuckers on tape
