I was an only child. I wasn't allowed to feel special, even on my birthday. With the exception of the actual birthday song, my birthdays were all about my friends. "Make sure they feel welcome and have a good time." Of course you should be a good host, but this was taken to an extreme. It taught me that my friends happiness is always paramount to my own. My parents (though it was mostly my mom's doing) specifically made sure I was last in line for any activity...even the last one to get cake. And she isn't even the parent I consider abusive. It seems so minor or maybe even selfish to some people, but the one day a year when you should feel special, I was intentionally forced to go last, not second or 4th or 9th, but LAST. And they wonder why I let people walk all over me.

I feel that tbh. After I turned twelve people stop celebrating my birthday. Or in my mom's case, turned it into my little sisters second birthday party. I dont hate my baby sister for that. No. Instead I hold resentment for my mom for that a bit. But my dad. On my sixteenth birthday he tried to hold me down for the "birthday spankings" and he was crushing my ribcage, I couldn't breath because he had all his weight on me. He panicked and whacked him in the head. That got him off long enough to get a breath of air only to get beaten and called names. The amount of times he threw things at me for no reason or other than the fact I didnt do as he said fast enough or wasnt putting the groceries away fast enough, moved papers he didnt want moved or didnt move them at all, or just says "because I can." (The grocery thing? He would throw fucking cans at my head. That's why I'm better at catching shit. Even from behind.)

@@averyisdumb9531 its fine... I live with my older sister now, but the man's got me fucked up. I barely can leave my room when her boyfriend is home or awake. I barely leave the room when she is around. So I jaut stag in my room all day when I'm not working. I still go see my dad... mainly because I still care about him, but also because my grandmother still lives with him and well... he admitted to smacking her in the head... just for annoying him with asking a question over and over again when she cant even remember what day it is. When that lottery was up in the billions I was low-key hoping to win so I could get her out of there. Let her pick a home she would walk to live in and get her 24/7 care to live there with her. To talk with her, watch her shows with her, and all in all, keep her happy. I think I had it bad, she hasn't had a bath in three years. Asks if I can give her one but I cant do it by myself. It takes at least two people to give a bedridden patient a bath. And they are trained to lift the elder properly. I'm not. My dad will make her sit in the same used adult pullups for a whole day. And I cant do much either because she wont let me... she says "I'll be fine." And will refuse. I managed to wash her hair for her once... but that task was near impossible... I cut her hair the best I could... I just- i escaped... hut she cant. She doesn't even know hes abusive t her either because she refuses to see it. I’m so sorry hun. Please know that this is not your fault, it is a cycle that continues until one person is strong enough to break it. Focus on keeping yourself emotionally and mentally stable, do not open up to your mother as she is displaying a similar pattern to those with narcissistic personality disorder. I would suggest appearing as emotionless as possible around her as she will no longer get satisfaction from making you emotional. Be careful about letting her be aware of your current emotions, and plans as she will try to sabotage this. She will try to convince you that she cares as this is how she gets her emotional supply, it is rewarding for her as she feels she is good enough of an actor to lure you in with promises or apologies, whatever form of apologies she may use at the time. Focus on keeping yourself physically healthy, and building yourself strong enough to be able to leave as soon as you are able. Focus on making friends so you may have a place to go if you need to get away for your own safety. I would also suggest researching on the pattern of “narcissistic personality disorder”, it will give you a lot more information on how to control her emotions so that you will have more control and peace of mind; as in the instance that you need to feel safe in the moment or to get what you need from your mother. It will be shocking and scary at first, but learning as much as you can on what makes her upset, happy, or sad will give you a feeling of control and help you feel more at peace since you will be able to slow or stop her emotional reactions. If you need more information on what you can do or someone to talk to about this, you can text me at 832-353-4997. I went through the same thing when I was growing up and had to learn how to control her emotions in order to protect myself. Please take care of yourself, you will make it out.

You poor thing. My parents aren’t like that, thank god, but they are toxic to each other. My room is the closest to them and I always here their fights. So whenever that’s happening I play music watch KZbin or just cry to my dog. Most nights for me are restless. Whenever I had my camera on for online school, everyone said that I looked so tried. One point it was really bad to where I didn’t sleep for three days. Idk why I put but I guess why I put this is because that’s what may happen in a toxic relationship. But a really healthy example is my sister and her boyfriend. They’ve been me and my sisters example. But please don’t settle for no one besides a nice healthy person who’s going to treat you right.

well idk, maybe they don't search for her/don't care? actually I don't see the sense in running away, since you have no real chance of a life tbh. school, work, anything? kinda impossible. where to live, how to get money and food and everything? it's not working. you'd need an adult who gives you a home and a job/school etc. you can't live in the forest lmao. like you can't go to school without parents signing and stuff so basically everything is impossible

Let me see.. 1. My parents were incredibly neglective from birth to 6 years of age, basically never around, put the responsibility to RAISE me (feeding, etc) in my older siblings who were teens; 2. My dad abandoned me in a orphanage bc his new wife didn't want me around (I was 6); 3. It took my mom 7 years to get me out of there, always making up excuses which I am not entirely sure if it was real or not; 4. My mom bodyshamed me since I was a toddler... and throughout my teen years and adult life (I developed and ED due to that and more); 5. She would make me feel useless and let me live my teen years without basic ass needs; 6. I grew up in my mind world pretty much bc facing reality was shit.. and I accepted it bc she developed cancer - she won tho; 7. Tho I love her still, somehow, I can NEVER tell her that in person, and today, being grown and having 2 kids, her presence is only accepted by my brain for a small amount of time, like PTSD I get all kinds of backflashes and traumatic stuff, making my brain get anxious, panicking and rage; 8. My mom also shaved my whole head when I was 4 or 5 bc I found a scissors and cut a few chunks of hair; 9. I ate dog food when I was 4 or 5 bc I was starving, there were days that my siblings and I had nothing at all so we would fry some garlic with olive oil to dip some olde bread in it.. and this was a good day; 10. I was sexually abused twice at the age of 4 bc my parents owned a restaurant in an amusement park and let me alone on a daily basis, I cant even count the amount of times I was taken by the police when they found me alone somewhere - they were too busy fighting with each other, running the restaurant and kinda cheating on one another.. also my parents never knew about this till I told my mom at age 14; 11. When I did tell her about the sexual abuse, I also told her about another 2 episodes that happened with an old man from a shop nearby and a friend of hers, where they TRIED but I was lucky enough to get away - well for my surprise.. SHE ENDED UP DATING THAT FRIEND OF HERS EITHER WAY (the guy also apologized to me.. mind he was nearly 40 and I was 14); 12. She made me feel like a shit mom for 4 years, till I moved to another country and got away from her for good; 13. From my 4 siblings I only get along with my sister, who left my parents early bc she was sick of my parents and specially my mother, bc she would simply choose her boyfriend over her kids at the time; 14. My parents hated each other, my mom would talk shit about him and his wife would talk shit about my mom... all the time, so yey; 15. Last time my mom tried to hit me I was 23 years old.. right before I moved countries, she grabbed a broom and hitted me with it, shouting and used her hands as well... all of this to make me hit her back, which I didnt, I just shove her away so she would get away from me; 16. She is extra friendly with my ex, who is my first daughter's dad, who abused me as well... s h o c k e r. 17. My dad died last year and I didn't cry that much.. a few days and I was actually fine with it, bc we had zero connection. Not everything, but the top ones I suppose! I can say I am better today, it took me a while but I am free from them and making my own family and life, with an amazing man and my kiddos, who I raise very differently from my parents (Positive Discipline method). Trust me, it wont last forever!! But please, if you are experiencing abuse, pleaaaaaase get help and dont do it like me! You are worth it, you deserve happiness and love!!

In the 90s If you had money you were considered good people.
