The most dangerous time during domestic abuse is when the victim wants to leave (intimacy homicides)...and you know what? its not always the victims who dies in these situations, about 20% of the time it's those who try to help/intervene. So yeah, it's hard to leave feeling safe. Not my personal experience, but I was a home care nurse for a bit, and this was pretty incredible to me.... had a client who hired me to take care of his recently disabled fiance - she had been in an accident a couple months prior. He warned me that she was more mentally disturbed than disabled though, so I wouldnt have any troubles getting her to walk from point A, to point B. Now, he barely glanced at my CV, and pretty much hired me on the spot. My first day: I noticed boxes and baggages all lining the walls. 2nd day: husband-to-be is gone, but has movers taking away all his stuff - WTF RIGHT?!?!?! Almost immediately, wifey shows improvements of her strange habits/symptoms. Few days later I get a call from hubby-2B asking if he had left his laptop and speakers at the house...No sign of it. He would try the movers. Didnt hear from him again. After I'd been working/living there for a week, I hear music blasting from the kitchen...wifey-to-be is downstairs dancing her ass off in her best summer dress, full makeup on, paint and canvas sprawled all over the dining table and downing a bottle of red! WHAAAAATTHAAAAFUCCCK!!! Turns out, her "accident" was actually him beating the shit out of her. She woke up in hospital and decided to act permanently disturbed to SCARE HIM away because he wouldnt let her go. So she spent the few months drooling, pissing fully clothed, shitting in the shower, crying and laughing at random moments, some nights she'd stand at the corner of the room rocking, sometime giggling or talking to herself in the dark (when he'd be home), leaving knives and broken glass in the weirdest places, etc. Anyway, he only stayed out of guilt for that long - until someone else came along! Then it became their problem. So I ended up becoming her "healing companion" until she found a new place & started going to therapy. We're still pretty tight, she has reached out to her old friends & family and has become a really great mom to an adopted 4-year-old. Unfortunately ex fiance is still out there, presumably destroying another life. I am so sorry that's still a loose end. But yeah, I admire the cards she played, solid Goddess this woman is!

I might not have been hit or beat but I knew what it feels like to go through this because my dad is an abusive person. He would hit my mum harshly and beat her like his child. She would have to go to work with wigs covering half her face. She went to stay with her mum one week and my dad found her, took her up, dragged her through the bushed and beat her, punched her, and even raped her. Even though I was just five I remember these incidents like they were yesterday. My mum wasn't the only one he did like this. He did it to my older sisters mothers. He even beat one of my sister's mum till she had a concussion. They loved him to the point they couldn't even tell their family members, and for a person to not see that is fucking dumb. I am at the age of 13 right now, my mum left him but he continuously kept telling her to come home.He even went to my older sister's mum home and had raped her while the kids were sleeping.I despise my father till this day and I could never ever forgive him. I truly hope these people can over come their fear and become the bigger person and seek help.

First off, not everyone is capable of recognizing the situation due to long term abuse, which is usually accompanied by lowself esteem. Second, people can probably be in situations like divorce where custody agreements need to be made or specific items are going to have to be split. Or the ridiculous case of state divorce laws. I know alot of other videos are absolutely heart breaking and terrible, but the one where the gf wanted to see if she was "an abusive gf" and pulled her hand back...... made me so sad. My dad's parents beat the crap out of him and his siblings. Like wayyyyy past spankings. He's almost 60 and still to this day if I make a sudden movement close to him with my arm raised or something he flinches. My sister and I used to think it was funny and would do it to just "mess with him" and he would laugh afterwards. But being an adult now, I'm so disappointed with myself for joking around with him. He's even flinches when my son is next to him and makes a movement like that. Seeing it legit makes me want to just go and hold him and protect him lol I don't care that he's the dad. Daughters can keep their manly, tough dads safe lol

That car scene is like a flashback when my dad dragged me from my hair in a movie theater to a parking lot then a woman stopped us in parking lot asking if I was ok then my dad lied saying I was retarded and she said oh I see how it is and drove off after insulted me. I threatened and cured her to release my fear and angry he then a few days later threatened to kill me with a gun and tried to kill me. I escaped and call 911 the cops didn't care left me alone after they asked for his number since I was high school student then he told same lie and they left me alone in rain. I had my mom get me and lived with her never getting justice.

Yeah my ex was physically abusive. Took me 3 years to finally date someone that i thought who would care about me. He got annoyed because of afew things i would do. When he was waving around those tennis racket shockers for flies and mosquitos i quickly reacted and ducked out the way and he was like wtf? He raised his arm to grab something from a top shelf and i quickly put my hands out and ducked down and this annoyed him aswell. I said sorry but he didnt care. We ended things after 4 years..
