AC/DC’s Angus Young & Brian Johnson sat down for a SiriusXM Town Hall moderated by renowned/Grammy award winning producer Brendan O‘Brien, who produced ‘Rock Or Bust.’ The legendary rockers said Gene Simmons was wrong in recently claiming "Rock and roll is dead."
“AC/DC Radio” features rock from the lads' entire Rock & Roll Hall of Fame career, and you’ll hear other Cassette Era Rockers that are AC/DC approved. AC/DC Radio plays on until December 8 at 3 am ET on Classic Rewind.

True story... I was once on stage filling in as the lead singer and lead guitarist for AC-DC. I was seriously rocking the house, the crowd was cheering and really into it. Then I felt a tug on my shoulder and a faint voice. Finally I looked up and my mom was yelling "Wake up boy, if you don't get to work on time you're going to lose your job at Waffle House "

If Rock and roll is dead, as according to Mr Simmons, surely he is one of its murderers. He is one of the single most significant figures who has diluted the genre and reduced it to a reason to sell a lunchbox or some other trivial trinket that served only him and his outrageous ego. Besides, he is just plain wrong. KISS in the 80's was a rock band, all the other stuff is as it was from the start, a venture backed by guys who made comedy records. He is an embarrassment to music in general.

Kiss is the hottest band in the world from some point of view ... The most influential band of the last 45 years (everyone has something from Kiss, from Metallica to Lady Gaga) ... The only phenomenon band with all 4 members k lead vocal ... A sensational story in which they beat record after record ... The biggest show band in the world - it doesn't matter how many bombs and lasers you put on stage, but the skeleton of the Kiss show which is iconic, each band taking something from Kiss - "You can copy a Kiss show, but you can't be a Kiss", there is no other band in which every "superhero" character has fulfilled his role in the show ... Few people here know that Kiss fans (Kiss Army) are the craziest and most fanatical in the world - for example a Kiss fan fatally shot a techno fan in 1994 - few know that rock band T-shirts started from the Kiss Army ... As the band sold "merchandise" from T-shirts, condoms to ... coffins worth about $ 1 billion ... As a band he performed for over 30 million spectators ... As bands like ACDC, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Van Halen, Blue Oyster Cult, Anthrax, Pantera (and others) sang in the opening for Kiss ... Kiss is ICONIC

It's always the same. Kids growing up are influenced by what is popular, not necessarily what is good. The fact you prefer Rock N Roll means you have taste. You're part of a club with hundreds of millions of others, who prefer music to words being spoken over a sampled track with a singer being 'featured' because the rapper can't be arsed to write a third verse (or vice versa). Stick with it kid, Rock n Roll always finds it's way back!

@@flyingdutchman6984 Pop has ALWAYS dominated the singles charts. Album charts were more rock's domain. With the advent of digital music, the album as we knew it is a dying breed. At least the singles charts used to have some variety. Today, everything pretty much sounds the same. Nothing much more than what I call a cicada noise with some really poorly constructed rhymes "sung" over the noise. Back in Black is the 4th highest selling LP of all time. It peaked at #4 on the US charts when originally released. It is chock full of classic rock songs. The highest any single song peaked on the charts from that record was You Shook Me All Night Long, and it only reached #35 on the US singles charts. I consider myself fortunate to have grown up in the golden age of rock music. I turned 10 in 1975.

No, Gene is a buffoon at this point, but he's correct about this. If you haven't already made a name for yourself, you'd better have a good job and do your music as a hobby, unless you're making cookie-cutter corporate pop crap. Back in the *80s* Frank Zappa, when asked for _advice for the next upcoming Frank Zappa,_ said, "Get a real estate license."
