Brian sings Bon’s songs with all the enthusiasm that he sings his own. The fact he can sing those songs and sound good is astounding as it is. Bon had a seriously high voice. Brian is a class act, keeping those songs alive and never making it a matter of ego.

Everytime I hear ACDC with Phil Rudd playing the drums I'm airdrumming like the dude at 0:50 Rudd's playing is clean as fuck, and with so many intricacies in it. Badass drum fills, swings his hihats and hits hard his solidly tuned snare drum as he pulverizes the kick drum. No need to overplay, or showing off, just a simple yet solid ass kicking 4/4 beat. The man's a machine...!!

The whole band is clean as they come. I think the misperception they are reverb-laden-dirty-max gain rock band comes from shitty hiss filled cassette tapes being pumped through 6x9 speakers over-fed with 100 watts in a 80's Camero. AC/DC is probably one of, if not #1 'clean' heavy rock bands.

I listen to AC/DC since 20 years now and the more I listen to them the more I'm convinced that Phil Rudd has always been the absolute key of the band. His groove is so unique and demostrates to a lot of drummers how much you can do with a 4/4 tempo. I mean, listen to a band that covers an acdc song and listen to the live acdc version after that: there is no comparison on how much you jump when you listen to acdc. Surely the riffs are important and the sound of the guitars too, also the bass, but the biggest game changer here are the drums. For example, listen to Dirty Honey (great band active nowadays in rock n roll, check it out) live version of girls got rhythm and then come back here and listen to this: no comaparison. And Dirty Honey are great.
@theseagullthatcould56982 жыл бұрын
I Agree, Phil is literally the most important member of this band, the reason you dance to ACDC is because of phil. His swing is unmatched and his feel is crazy. That's why they only ever filled in for him, never replaced. he was meant for ACDC's simplicity. he's the reason people think acdc is so 'easy', but it really isnt.

Could also argue that Bon was a much better lyricist. Brians got his own voice, he fits in just fine in my opinion, he doesn't take away from the band and he's to this day highly enthusiastic to be a part of it.

@@theseagullthatcould5698 Brian is a legend, no doubt about it. It was his powerful, screaming vocals that propelled AC/DC to mega mainstream success. However Bon is definitely the better of the two. Guys, Brian Johnson made them popular around the world instead of just in Australia like when Bon was in the band. Both singers are absolutely incredible and have lots of talent but don't hate on Brian Johnson and say he's bad. Bon sung all these songs first and Johnson is just releasing his version. Both versions with both singers are great and AC/DC's music will always live on with an incredible singer.
@PrimoX3799 жыл бұрын
+Rex Quail Brian is a great guy and he definitely has a unique voice, but AC/DC didn't become popular around the world because of him, it was the years of hard graft the band had already done and of course the record label's marketing that did it. They'd just released their biggest selling album. Brian put AC/DC into a more niche category than Bon's work would have (RIP). When showing someone AC/DC for the first time I never use Brian's era because although the riffs are still amazing, having that "shreiking elmo voice" over the top just puts new comers off haha.
@Nau4aa8 жыл бұрын
+Primo X no, AC/DC became popular because of Brian. His voice/performance made Back In Black. "shreiking elmo voice" - JFC.. are you serious?? thats only said by Bon fanboys or people who have heard Bon fanboys say that, just because Bon isn't here anymore.. so they hate on Brian. it's more like Bon sounded like a sheep, if we draw parallels to some certain sounding "things". and shreeking elmo voice.. just listen to fuking Back In Black (the album).. where you can hear shreeking elmo voice?? lol.. all you can hear is magnificent vocal performance - with amazing power and range, which Bon never had. FTATR, the album, I'd say is even more impressive. Flick is up there too. ok, 85-88 wasn't the freshest years for BJ, but he still had power and everything needed for a AC/DC, in 1990 he was back refreshed hitting high notes. then in 95-2001 he had a lower, rougher, more badass voice.. and the last two albums Black Ice and Rock or Bust are really great for for Brian, where he sounded superb (especially for his age) - I'd say 2nd to BIB/FTATR/Flick vocally. when I've shown new people AC/DC with both Bon and Brian, 9/10 would say that Brian was waayyy better singer and fitted ACDC better and that Bon sounded like a little boy on occasions.
@PrimoX3798 жыл бұрын
I hear what you're sayin, his voice made them even more distinctive (they already were unique) and recognisable sure. And I love Back in Black, For those about to rock, Ballbreaker, etc of course. But you can't simply state "Brian made them popular". They were non stop touring for the best part of a decade until 1980 and were already popular. And ok.. "shreiking elmo voice" is an over statement hehe
