The Bon Scott era - the best rock and roll band ever, without a shadow of a doubt. True, there's some great tunes from the Brian Johnson era, but it's the early stuff that's the best, hands down.

as a kid that received the album "let there be rock" for my 15th birthday, I can say that AC/DC has never been the same since Bon Scott left us
@clarkleach67334 күн бұрын
Never been the same!? They were never better with Bon Scott --- If it hadn't been for the timely presence of Brian Johnson in 1980, the band might have folded on the spot. I can't understand why all of you Bon-is-better crowd can't see that Johnson is the reason AC/DC survived into the 2020s. If you like Bon better 'just because', fine. But please stop saying he's better than Johnson just because he's dead --- He absolutely is not, and there is a ton of evidence to prove it.
@dennisl5994Күн бұрын
I know you're joking but I'm not going to fall for it😅
@clarkleach6733Күн бұрын
@@dennisl5994 I absolutely am not joking. If anyone should be joking about this, it's all of you Bon-Is-Better fans. Bon Scott was far too much of a loose cannon for this band --- He almost carried them with him to the grave. Only the kind of voice and presence of Brian Johnson could have saved them, and he had to do it as a complete unknown. He still sounds on record like he's in his 30s --- 'Back in Black' routinely keeps showing up on the Billboard Albums chart (None of the previous albums do) --- Any attempt to replace him even briefly hasn't lasted long --- And kids today still listen to the Johnson-fronted AC/DC the way we did when he first arrived in 1980. So if you still think Bon is better than Johnson, I can't help that. But so far, I have not heard one of you give even one point of hard-and-fast evidence to back up your contention. But I guess that's not really your fault: There simply isn't any evidence for you to draw from: You simply have your preference, and that's fine.
@dennisl599412 сағат бұрын
I think we are saying the same thing in different ways. The real, raw, power AC/DC was definitely with bon Scott. When Brian Johnson got with the band, they still called them ac/DC, but they turned more pop. You still have guitar riffs, but it's like heavy metal pop. That never happened with bon Scott. The exact same thing happened with the Who. Once Keith Moon died, they were never the same... They were still called the who but they weren't "THE" Who...the same with Bon Scott/AC/DC

Bon, to me…is right with Phil Mogg, Phil Lynot, Paul Rodgers, Freddie Mercury and Rob Halford are the greatest vocalists of at least the 70’s. Just looked up all of the songs that Bon wrote/co-wrote and the list is extensive…when you look at those songs, they fit perfectly with the lyrics on Back in Black. I am sure Bon had a massive part of writing the lyrics that Brian sang. Bon, I think, deserves most of the credit for the lyrics on BnB. Vocal tracks that you can listen to and pretty much understand what they are singing, w/o needing the liner notes/sleeve to read along with. Greatest impact on my life as a teenager n the mid to late 70’s. I did my final term paper in journalism class on Bon and that was early 80’s and w/o the information at my fingertips. I was in USAF basic training when Bon died, we sang Highway to Hell on our squad-run that next morning, RIP, rock will never be this great again. Imagine that run in cadence, "Livin' easy, hut hut, lovin' free, hut hut..." it was so intense.

it's amazing, the was angus always uses raw power and lets his guitar catch feedback, or how he suddenly cuts it so that everybody hears the echo of his cut as the marshall power wall suddenly stop between his solo. That's really amazing. Not to mention the whole rock attitude, sexual drive and all. They are just steamrolling over you

Somewhere l have a cassette recorded off the TV when Bon and Angus were on a local cable show here in Atlanta called 'The Entertainment Page' on WTCG which later became CNN! Hosted by the coolest guy in the world, who happened to be named Jim Morrison. This was Atlanta cable TV in 1978, bands that came through would come on the show and take phone calls and so on. Just a wonderful time. I think my brother is on there asking them a question. I remember Angus mumbling 'any women out there?' Man, those were the days. Period. No days after 1979 for rock fans. A kid 18 years old could not conceptualize a show live on "TV", and you could call and talk to one of your heroes. I thank whoever is In Charge that l was born when l was.

Bonn was definitely the right lead man for ACDC. When you watch their 1st guy Dave Evans in the "Can I sit next to you vid" you can tell that he was more fit for the bay city rollers. His feminine moves are the opposite of what's needed for the Young bros. Bon was perfect, and you have to hand it to Brian for "Always" showing respect for him, and (in his shoes) it had to have gotten old as many times as he probably heard how great Bon was, but he always kept a smile. He's a dude that's comfortable in his own skin.

Bon Scott was a badass dude! The original vocalist for AC/DC who created the distinctive sound of one of the most funky and rocking bands in music history! He had a lot of soul! He reminded me of the great pioneer of rock and roll Little Richard.

I was 14 I think and in high school on the South Coast of NSW , when this outfit came over to do the college circuits .....it was The Valentines with Bon Scott on vocals....a perfect nobody at that time and singin' pop songs to boot ! My mates told me I even shook hands and exchanged a few words with the future legendary frontman , but I remember very little coz I was downright drunk !!! Little did I know that he would become the frontman of the greatest rock band to roam the planet....AC/DC ❤❤❤❤❤

I never got the opportunity to see Bon Scott. But my favorite albums are Jailbreak '74, and Let There Be Rock. I got to open up for them with the band Rubbish in 2001 in France with the Offsping. It will never be the same without you Bon Scott. His bday is a day before mine. I will roll one and have a shot in honor of the greatest rock singer ever. Someone should've been taking care of him.
