"Powerage" is easily their finest album. Every riff, every beat, every song. Bon's voice on the album is incredible and Angus is simply at the top of his game.The production is tight and everything sits perfectly in it's place. I love all the Bon era albums, but if I had to pick one, it's always gonna be "Powerage". Absolute perfection.

Yes, you have written beautiful words. I love listening to the Bon's era. From my point of view Bon was the best frontman.
@AnthonyMonaghan4 жыл бұрын
@@jailbreak_7944 Definitely the better of the two. I have nothing against Brian, I mean 'Back in Black' is an excellent album, but he was a different kind of singer. He filled Bon's shoes pretty well and was the right fit for the band, and probably helped save their musical career after Bon's death. But when I think about AC/DC, I think Bon. Cheers, stay safe in these difficult times.

Still have my stub from September 1978 Power Age Tour & my concert shirt. They played in a bar called B'ginnings in Schaumberg IL. Fast forward to 2016 and my teenage daughter wore that same shirt to their Wrigley Field show in Chicago. A fan offered me $100 for this tattered shirt from 1978 and that was an easy no way. Wow this is great stuff, such a shame this song didn't find its way onto the Bonfire box set when it was released in the late 90s. Powerage is my favourite AC/DC album from my all time favourite band. It's not all polished up like the mutt Lange stuff, it's way more raw and gritty with a strong blues influence. Bon Scott never sounded better to me than on this album and his lyrics on this are the finest he ever wrote. There's a real sincerity and conviction in his singing and lyrics that give this album a more serious edge none of their other albums before or after it have had. Angus Young's solos are some of the most bluesiest soulful he has ever produced. It's such an honest Rock n Roll album, no bullshit whatsoever, 10/10 for me.

That's a great comment. The band had something to prove against the John Travolta music industry in Australia at the time who didn't want any real Rock n Roll poisoning the sanitized radio wave-lengths. I always thought that Highway to Hell was overproduced for some reason but I can't blame AC/DC for going for a more radio friendly sound and trying to sell more records. I believe Back in Black was overproduced and produced by Mutt Lange but I'm not sure about Highway to Hell. Highway to Hell just sounds more polished to me than Powerage. The album cover of Powerage doesn't demonstrate how sexy the band members are to young teen-agers and probably wasn't as cool as Saturday Night Fever. The music is a lot better on Powerage though compared to the music on Saturday Night Fever.

exactamundo and that's why the Bon era rules, Highway and Back cross each other out but Powerage and Let there be rock are the two best albums after that
@shaunloynds53173 жыл бұрын
@@clubhouseme Yep. Agreed. Brian sings songs but Bon told stories. At the time it felt as though he was singing about my life, my friends and the band I was in. I love BIB, it is a complete work, every tune is just sublime but from then on in, the 'vibe' and the raw funkiness took a nosedive. Sure, there are a few tracks dotted through the albums that followed and even Demon Fire on the new album is OK but nothing compares to the feel and themes of the the Bon era.

@@shaunloynds5317 I see what you mean but I think that’s a function of life and time...no way can an album from say 2008 mean what an album we grew up means...it’s part of us....truth is, black ice and rock or bust get better every year....I notice this with all my fave bands....it’s gonna take a few years but their later stuff is really good....
