Phil Rudd. The metronome that swings. No one does it like him. THE AC/DC drummer. As ever he holds this song back. Most others would have unintentionally played ahead of the groove. Somehow he plays just behind it yet it swings at the same time. A rare ability. People think he has the easiest drumming job in the the world. I beg to differ. Bravo Mr Rudd.

Being consistent while playing drums is actually one of the hardest jobs to maintain because it must be steady at all times. To me, a great drummer is one that compliments the sound of the band. Phil is one of them. The other is Nick Mason of Pink Floyd.

@@cratos222 Like someone said, you don't play in a band with Paul Rodgers and Jimmy Page if you're a useless drummer, so it's not like Chris Slade is a bad drummer! Slade just doesn't have the swing in his playing that Phil does. Simon Wright didn't have it either. Phil has got that Charlie Watts and Ringo Starr swing going on the high hat. I've been a drummer for over 30 years, and I don't have it either, even though I grew up on Phil Rudd.

When they played this VH1 special. they did a lot of songs off of Powerage (which is just a fucking killer album, especially for anyone that wants to learn about rhythm). Stuff that they'd never even done with Bon live. What's amazing is that 18 years had gone by and they could remember that stuff so well to do it on the fly.

@@kristianbrn2959 Really, IMO, the whole rhythm section here is underrated. There are a lot of rock bands, but very few great rock AND roll bands. AC/DC has the "roll" in their playing. Led by Mal, who just may be the best rhythm guitar player ever, (or at least tied with Keith Richards) these three guys are just so damn solid, that they may be the hardest substance on earth. Forget diamonds, lol. Phil Rudd is a monster. No frills, to the point, perfect swing and timing...it just doesn't get any better! RIP Malcolm. You are really missed!
