My favorite all-time music quote is “I'm sick to death of people saying we've made 11 albums that sound exactly the same, In fact, we've made 12 albums that sound exactly the same.” ~ Angus Young

I couldn't agree more with you: "Intros that every guitarist should know." AC/DC is blues, hard rock, rock & roll and everything in between. Angus' style is very tricky and his legacy has inspired millions of people around the globe. Great video, Marty!

Tag sky for the comment man. Very true... Ac/Dc are the salt of classic hard rock and "metal". Some of the most crushing and hook infused licks recorded. They have stood the test of time for a reason. And teach us valuable skills in rock and blues!
@runningfree4606
@runningfree4606 2 жыл бұрын
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker @sky it is always positive to have this kind of conversations beyond the guitar lessons. For instance, many rock fans don't know that Back in Black is the number 2 in the list of the world's best-selling albums of recorded music with more than 30 million copies sold. Even Eddie Van Halen was impressed (and concerned) by the fact that the boys from Australia, as the opening act for the 'Day on the Green’ Concert In Oakland, California in 1978, got 57,512 fans screaming and dancing before the mighty Van Halen took the stage. These stories are simply fascinating. Thanks again, Marty! Your lessons are truly inspiring.

Nicely done - clear and simple lesson. One thing that’s worth trying when learning AC/DC tunes is to mute the major third on open chords, especially the b on the 5th string, 2nd fret when playing an open G chord. This would definitely apply to You Shook Me All Night Long (I’ve also seen people mute the g# on the 3rd string of first E chord of Back in Black, and the f# on the first string for the D chord, as I think you did, for example). Takes a bit of practise, but definitely gives the cowboy chords, especially that G, the rich shimmer of a full open chord AND a the crunch of power chord (and maybe gives Angus more freedom away from chord tones to mix major and minor, mist or whatever?) Enjoyed your vid.

I've now got an obsession to learn as many AC/DC riffs as I can. I alerady have 5 under my belt, including the 2 best ones: Back in Black (which is suprisingly easier than it looks, even though it feels amazingly brilliant when you manage to crack it), and Riff Raff (a little bit trickier, but in my opinion, the greatest guitar riff of all time)

I always thought it was the G chord at the the 3rd fret barring high e and b and open g string then pinky to 5th fret high e string(a note). I play the entire lick between the 2nd and 5th frets with a few open strings in there as well.

Hey Marty, when you do those ‘cranked-amps-outdoors’ videos, do you ever hear about it later? I want to try it, but I don’t want to upset any neighbors
@Ranch5150SkinWalker

Nah I have yet to hear anything about it. I live in a fairly remote area with some distance between neighbors. I've known my surrounding neighbors for 13 years. I used to have hours and hours of band rehearsals when I first moved here so I think they are used to it or have come to expect it. 😂

Hey Marty, love AC-DC'S intro's. On Shook me I do it on #2,3 and 5 high E's instead. You always pickem. Thanks. Did you clean house cause it looks organized, lol. See ya.

Hey man! I used to do it this way too until last spring. I decided this way sounded more accurate. I think angus and Malcolm overdubbed a couple voicings in these albums that make them sound fuller. I swear that opening chord is doubled sometimes. Probably some Mutt Lange wizardry. Yeh. I sorted and stacked the amps! Good eye! 😎🎵

That is very different from the way I've seen Noise pollution played. I've been playing it entirely on the B&G strings. interesting way to play it with that E on the D string instead of the B. It sounds good.

Nicely done. Big AC/DC fan here. I enjoy watching how different people handle the same riffs. Curiosity question: is that an R8? I'm guessing only because of the relatively plain top. I'm also a Les Paul nerd, and I like guessing these things - it's like picking out cars on the highway. - cheers!

Nice job. Did you know there are 2 guitars on the opening to Shook You All Night Long. Hear them by panning right and left speakers. Two totally different parts. I think it's Malcolms unique and simpler part somewhat buried in the mix. The opening doesn't sound right without it. You're a much better player than I was 20 years ago, but by chance I heard it while trying to figure the opening.

Hey Andy! Thanks man. It's a Murphy Lab R8 bourbon burst ultra light age. I found this beast at a GC in Cary NC for a good used price and sold a cork sniffer I never played (I won't say the brand to not offend anyone) to get it. I am using the same page I use for the VH stuff. Just a Friedman BE but I have the volume turned halfway down on my guitar to clean it up!
