@jamestickle30702 жыл бұрын
This is definitely AcDc going mainstream. I think your word Polished is right. They weren’t selling out to corporate but they were making things more globally accessible. Like you couldn’t really play some of their earlier songs on the radio. And back then radio was everything. If you wanted to sell concert tickets you had to be on the radio. These songs were still grittier than most of the bands of this era. Still hard rock.

The first AC/DC album produced by Robert "Mutt" Lange who went on to produce their albums for some time, he also produced Def Lepppard so similarities between bands is due in part to his production skills and style.

Yes!! How I remember!! He died in January of 1980, and after a period of bereavement, the band had hired Brian Johnson and within five months had gone into the studio and started and finished recording Black In Black. If I remember correctly, the album was released in late 1980, for some reason I’m thinking it was December, please correct me if I’m wrong. I’m not sure where it’s written or if it’s true, but I recently read that the album was dedicated to the memory of Bon.

Every AC⚡️DC song in the Bon Scott years sounds like SEX!! It doesn’t matter what he’s singing about, that voice, the power of it, the grittiness, the titillating raunchiness, and the debauchery that surrounded the man himself, Legendary. Pure legendary!!! RIP Bon, AC⚡️DC songs were the soundtrack of my young years!!

I so agree with you. I saw them so often live as a teenager in Melbourne with Bon in the 70’s. We were a bunch of middle class girls but all of us just knew that we would never go backstage (which we could have done) as we could tell what might happen. He always had that naughty twinkle in his eyes and if he looked at you, it was electric!! Oh we were so lucky!! Miss him so much still.

Thanks for this BizMan!!!! Do what ever you think works best!!!! Live vs studio that is!!!! When Bon got to drinking/partying his live work definitely could be hard to understand if didn’t know the songs where as his studio work he seemed to be focused and “sober enough” for the producers/board mixers could make him sound like what we all grew up on buying the albums on!!!!! If you were a fan than the live performances were totally fine because we had learned the lyrics on the albums so we didn’t have a problem following along and just enjoyed his live performances (what a showman/frontman) being slurry in speech and a wild man!!!! We knew what he was trying to say!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤩 Shit we as an audience we’re so high on weed and other unmentionables it was the perfect storm if you will!!!!! ❤️ Brian never had that “problem” if you will!!!! He wasn’t a party animal!!!!! Just my 2 cents worth!!!! So says Austin Tx!!!!! 🎸🎸🥳😎🎸

This was the time when they Got it together and this song was released in the UK as a single I think it got into the top 30 . Will waffle a little here rather than Adding little bits here and there .They outgrew Oz Some of the songs were all about that time ie Down payment blues, Its a long way to the top as Money was tight as basically jobbing musicians the long Drives between gigs Struggling to keep it going Drinking and chasing women in sort og one horse Towns . Moved to the UK and they started playing Pubs , like the Merry Cow in Hammersmith ( think it was ,Too long ago ) Managed to get a back up band status for a while Managed to get a few nights at Hammy Odeon and Apollo they then played Wembley stadium as a back up band for Stranglers and the Who ( They stole the show needless to say) . Then More nights at Hammy along with a British tour . They had started to make it bearing in mind Heavy Rock had a limited audience and Punk was in . Anyway Highway to hell was there so called break thru album They must have written a few more songs and Ideas not put onto this record . And then Calamity, Bon Died after a huge bender So very bitter sweet .Then Back in Black came out after they Got Brian Johnson ( Should have been Jimmy Barnes from Cold Chisel . Yes some of AC DC came from there ). And to me, Shook me is Bon all over Not Brian .Listen to Lyrics on what had gone before and the ones after, and a huge difference in attitude ,even some on Back in Black are chalk and cheese .And again as Bitter sweet as Bon Helped drag them to here and then Back in black became the 2nd biggest album of all time .Took time but the groundwork had been done .At the time I put Bon on a par with Freddie Mercury as a front man However he was taken before he could really get into the role .PS can remember seeing Angus sitting on Bons Shoulders playing a mad Solo whilst bon was Running up one side of the Hammy Odeon .Into the Foyer and back down the other aisle without missing a note . And dont ask me about Guitar leads or the likes but they managed Somehow . PS went to The Apollo for Hells Bells tour And I nearly walked out . Songs were the same but they weren't if that makes sense . Buddy Holly and The day the Music Died and can nearly Say the Night Bon Died was the day that Lyrics died But not quite 😥😥😥😥
