SIR since there is no promotional aspect to the post of ETO (atleast on a heirarchial basis) , so have you ever considered the possibility of switching to the marine engineering department and climbing the ladder up, to the post of chief engineer. What are your thoughts on this matter and can you please explain the process involved for an ETO to switch to a 4th engineer.

There is one way to do 4th engg near and go upto chief engineer but i am not that much interested now i have other planning with my future and Chief engg rank is top most second rank so u can go with promotion till that if u want i am happy with eto also depend on every individual how far u want to go in this field or i can switch to offshore or office for other job opportunities with experience.
