Really your video was helpful to me. I saved my money. Problem was in the mesh. I cleaned it. First my husband said , recently I cleaned it. But I insisted to open that mesh. It was full of dust. Now it is far better then before. In this this season it is too expensive to get it checked by an expert. Thank you very much.

Very good video. The supply and temperature difference was good to see. Especially the different locations on the supply/cold air side. I use the formula of delta temp X cfm air flow X 1.08 = btu/hr to check against the manufacturers btu/hr rating at when the outside temp is 95 deg. Recently my unit was recharged with refrigerant but only got to 75% of rated capacity. The rated temp difference is 25 deg and the unit only got 19 deg delta. I m wondering if the contractor did not put in the full 9.8 lbs of 410A refrigerant. Can you confirm the use of this formula? Dt x cfm x 1.08 = btu/hr Tom Handza

Usually this means that either the unit is low on refrigerant or the compressor is not running. (only the outdoor fan is spinning.) I would suggest this video to start with: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYC7mJekh6drapIsi=6-zonMebF2u1ZSow

The thick line (suction) hose is dry, while running the unit. What does that mean? I can tell the difference coz I have 2 units out side, the other one is running and the Suction line is cold. Thank great video

So one should look at the coils outside and make sure they are clean. Fuzz from plants, leaves, grass, dirt and more can get in the external coils. This can be gently washed off with a garden hose if it is dirty. One can also use a mild soap like dish soap and a spray bottle or garden sprayer, just be gentle and don't bend the fins. Never use a pressure washer. One should check the condensate drain and make sure the water is coming out like it should. One can also inspect the all the ducts and make sure they are delivering the air where is needed. Ducts can go through crawl spaces, attics, and other areas outside of the home and it those cases, that cool air can be lost to the outside.

Great video, thanks for sharing! I'm just wondering why my delta temperature is just 14. I maintained my A/C unit every year by cleaning condenser coil fins every spring, checking electrical parts and regularly change my filter. I notice that the forward air temperature is just 65 degrees Fahrenheit. I saw your video and you have around 55 degrees. I set my thermostat around 77-78 degrees and my A/C cools the house or I say it reached the set temperature normally. What do you think is the problem?
@WordofAdviceTV5 жыл бұрын
There is a chance that you are a little low on refrigerant but if it reaches the temperature you set it to and cools down the house good, then I would just leave it alone for now.

@WordofAdviceTV5 жыл бұрын
@@francisperez3615 Yeah... That's another indication of being a little low on freon. Another possibility is that there is a problem with airflow. But it sounds like you change your filter regularly so that's not likely.

Don't know if you're still responding to this 3 year old vid, but I got a question. Can you find what the temp is on the supply duct by just sticking your temperature probe through the louvers of the supply register rather than sticking it through the canvas? (The air handler is in a closet so I don't really have access to the ducts)
@Ouimayo2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can, the temp diff won't be as exact but it will still give a good enough reading.

I checked capacitor it lis good. I pushed contactors compressor turned on good with immediate cold at output host. Double contactor has no 24VAC supplied to turn on compressor while the thermostat in room is clicking correctly according to setting. 24VAC is coming from attic where the A coil is located. The thermostat fan mode itself also not working. Is the defective fan in A coil prevents 24VAC to activate compressor to send cold agent to it so that A coil is not freezing up? What is your diagnostics for this problem? Thanks for your promptly reply.
@WordofAdviceTV6 жыл бұрын
If your unit is in the attic, I would suspect a tripped float switch. Have you checked if your condensate drain line has any blockage? This article is a good start: acwiz.com/index.php?action=artikel&cat=18&id=26&artlang=en And usually even with a defective fan, the ac unit outside will still turn on. Also, if your furnace/air handler has a 3 amp fuse in it, check that too. It may have blown.

My big pipe is dry, would that mean low/no freon? Love your videos!
@WordofAdviceTV5 жыл бұрын
Glad you like the videos! That is an indication of a problem but doesn't guarantee that you are low on refrigerant/freon. If your unit is not cooling the house down then most likely that's exactly what it is.

The seating on the outside means that the temperature of the pipe is close to the dew point. I live in a desert, with a dew point below freezing, so it would pretty much have to frost to condense. Should the pipe temperature be about the same temperature as the air flowing out of the ducts?

It can be that you have the wrong type of thermostat or thermostat is not working, it can also be that the contractor from the condenser is broken.

So our AC has been set at 78 for at least a year and working just fine. My dad passed away from Covid 11 months ago, so my mom is selling our home. The buyers sent out a tech to check the AC today, and as soon as he left, we noticed our air conditioning was 81° and rising even though it’s set to 78. We’re in Arizona so it’s over 100° at night. The company won’t have someone come back out to look at it without a $75 fee, and we don’t know what to do. Any ideas? This sucks and my mom has been through so much. She wasn’t even home, our AC was working great for years until this guy came out.

@WordofAdviceTV6 жыл бұрын
The temperature difference of your return duct air flow and supply duct air flow should be about 15-20 degrees F. As shown in the video. If it is less then 15, like 10 for example, then you either have an airflow problem or you are low on freon.

My big pipe is frozen so what does that mean
@WordofAdviceTV6 жыл бұрын
There could be a couple of reasons for that: - Very dirty furnace filter - Dirty/plugged evaporator coil - Blower motor in furnace stops working after a while - Unit is low on freon - There is a restriction in the metering device (freon related)
@WordofAdviceTV6 жыл бұрын
I will try to explain.. Temperatures and pressures correlate. So when the pressures are lower, the temperatures are lower. When your unit is leaking out freon, the pressures will go down. Average freon temperature that is inside of your refrigerant pipes (suction line) is about 38 degrees. When the pressures go down, the temperature of the freon will go down as well. Once it drops below 32 degrees, the condensation that your evaporator coil collects will start to freeze. The longer you run your unit like that, the more ice will build up.
@WordofAdviceTV6 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately when it is freezing up like that, it will likely require calling someone. You would need at least a little bit of an HVAC background plus the necessary tools to try to fix that. And yes, when it comes to freon issues, the bill builds up in a hurry..
@mimbreno876 жыл бұрын
So update a buddy of mine was a HVAC tech he came and checked it out there was no leaks I did change my filter though cause it was dirty as shit honestly hadn't changed it in a year. The freon was a lb or more low got the r22 my buddy put it in and now it's working great
