Just had it checked and every time a new guys out the have been saying for 15 years now that I should get a new one... On really hot days like the one we just had that was 109 out the system ran 14+ hours none stop.. Water works so so good Im now going to add a mister to the AC as we still have some hot days left.

Best practice is to shut off power at the service disconnect. There is a breaker (or at least there should be) at the point where power comes from the house to the unit. With forced water there is a risk of hitting parts of the system that should remain dry.

my AC takes 25 to 35 minutes to go from 88 to 85F, condenser is clean, bigger pipe with insulation is cold, smaller pipe is warm. the junction between the 2 pipes got a hissing sound. is it Freon leaking? anything else other than Freon? how much to fix and refill? thanks
@michaelatkinson44348 жыл бұрын
Oh buddy, you got a problem I would say, throw that AC to the curb my friend! Drop that zero and get yerself a HERO! Man!
@michaelatkinson44348 жыл бұрын
+michael atkinson If you have a freon leak it will show itself very clearly First the large pipe will freeze, and as it loses more refrigerant it will stop freezing and simply not cool. Refrigerant has a range of pressure/temp differential where in one zone it will freeze, but after losing enough refrigerant it will simply stop freezing and not cool. Call a good company to check it out. With AC, it is all about a proper install. Could be that whoever installed your AC did not size it right, or the ducts are wrong. Do research and call a reputable company. Cheers.
@michaelatkinson44348 жыл бұрын
+michael atkinson By the way, AC is a complicated science. One problem disguises itself as another, but that is where hiring a good company comes in to play. Be warned, you WILL pay good money for proper AC service and repair. But a good company will also make it right if they misdiagnose, and a misdiagnosis is easy in this biz
@okaythen0018 жыл бұрын
nope no leak just checked. so 25 to 35 min to go from 88 to 85F is a problem? sometimes it takes 55 when it's hot outside. but once it reaches the temp it seems fine, just 8 min each time to maintain the temp. air comes out the vent is cold about 20F lower than room temp
@okaythen0018 жыл бұрын
thanks for that. also it's cooler the last few days so it seems to tkae shorter time to cool down. when it was 115F it took a long time

Can I change the coil in my air condition?
@hanky9700710 жыл бұрын
Why do you want to change the coil? You need to have the refrigerant recovered first. Knowingly releasing refrigerant is against the law and harmful to the environment. Disconnect the power. Cut refrigerant lines. Things you'll need to do the job. Recovery machine, Recovery tank, Manifold gauges, Vacuum gauge, Oxy-acetylene torch, Vacuum pump, tools and the knowledge to do the job. Your inside evaporator coil will probably need to be replacing also if it is old. Short answer is No. Let a professional do it for you. Your equipment will be installed correctly and will be covered under warranty too.

Probably got some broken duct but you can put some tape on the inside of the vents that blow harder so the air is forces to the rest. Honestly will take a while. You can start with covering half up amd waiting a few days amd adjust from there either more or less. Just don't cover or close any up.

My AC just up and quit working last night. My thermal stat doesn't kick on, when the inside temp goes above the temp I've got it set for? I checked the breaker, and it didn't trip. The thermal stat shows the temp, but not kicking on. I have my house set at 70 degrees, but it won't go below 71, making it just keep running all of the time. This has gone on for a while before it stopped working. Why is that? I'm hoping that I just need a part fixed? Can anyone help me? Any advice would be grateful. Thx.

When I had this problem all I needed was to replace the batteries in the thermostat. Hope this helps.
@ethanh95358 жыл бұрын
+electricsub Thank You! I found out that the problem was, that the light switch on the side of furnaces/AC, has a fuse under the square cap just below the switch. So I put a new one in, and it fired back up... Has been working great ever since. The thermostat batteries were good, BC the display was good. I just recently installed a new Honeywell Thermostat with wifi, which is amazing. I can change the temp from anywhere I am, just by using my cell. Worth every penny!! Thanks for the reply though.

A'C units remove moisture from the air and it comes out of the drainage pipe. If the pipe is clogged some people use toilet cleaner, but I'd call a professional....
@heidis87137 жыл бұрын
1st, WHERE are you looking for this "moisture" to be collecting at? I dont think you are looking for the right thing. You are looking for a drain pipe that exits your home. Could be PVC or copper. Could be at roof level or ground. Could have 1 or 2. Look around the perimeter. Mine is about 20' away. Or go in your attic and see where the pan under the a.c. drains to the pipe, and where it exits the house. It should drip water, not just collect moisture. A.C. units are extremely efficient in removing water. But much depends on your climate. I'm in Arizona, with very low humidity, and it's not uncommon to have more than 1 drop per second. Sometimes several. Sometimes a thin stream, even. If your pipes are clogged, you will see water in the pan in the attic. Maybe even a water spot on your ceiling. (NOT good). If your pan is flooded, turn the a.c. off. Get a wet/dry vac, and locate the pipe outside and get an airtight seal, and suck the stuff out. There are good videos on that. Then, after it is cleared, (if u don't have a copper pipe) pour a cup of bleach down there, like Donna said. 1 or 2 times a year. Reason for bleach is b/c the stuff clogging the pipe I BELIEVE is algae. Depending on how badly or how long the ceiling has had water, maybe need to call a pro. U don't want mold, or your unit to fall through a rotted ceiling.
