AC6 - Secret Customization Options

It's not unusual for NPCs to get access to customization features the player doesn't, but this time there's a bit of a workaround for letting you use them too.

@@thesaddestdude3575 I noticed device, the color setting for your lights, didn't have a reflectiveness/luster setting in the menu, but there was data for it in the game's memory, so I tried changing it to see what would happen and realized the lights were getting brighter.

having good visual fidelity, especially with the textures really helps. here’s a fun thing, you can use the decal system to add overlay patterns to parts as well. takes a LOT of time, but it can look pretty cool. like adding wallpaper to your AC 😂

Ive been grabbing so many decals from people online fir things like, caution marks, panel lines, rivets, eye cameras, battle damage, etc. You can really just go all out and the decal side of the community is insane. The only nit pick is fromsoft console locking them, making it really annoying if you see a decal you want, but its on the wrong console.

I suspect enemy AC's have higher brightness values to also make them easier to see, while the player gets lower ones by default so they don't distract the user.

I'd say it's entirely cosmetic, considering enemies like V.V Hawkins AC RECONFIG has 0 luster on every light except their head, with just 2 luster on it, while Ayre's AC ECHO has a staggering 5 luster on every light.

The only plausible intentional non-oversight reason I can think of is for PvP for people with sensitive eyes, however that reason goes out the window when using enemy AC data but that might be an oversight in that case. (As in they didn't want the values to be edited for people but neglected to tone down the enemy AC data) But I admit that is quite a stretch and not that likely at all, I agree that it's most likely an oversight.

the thing is, when you go to change the preset mech colors, you get a message that tells you that you cannot alter the existing patterns and that in order to alter the colors the game will reset the values. so it does seem to be intentional, similar to how in Bloodborne you could not access the facial warping sliders to make asymmetrical faces: those were dev only tools. not sure why they’d care, but if they went out of their way to give you a warning that altering the preset’s color info would wipe the slate clean, that doesn’t seem like an oversight. the oversight is being to go back into the menu without saving in order to get the color schemes back.

it took me longer than i expected, but i got enough parts to test this post patch(es) and its still possible after any of the patches so far. im glad you put the light values in the video(which i didnt notice before) so now i know the only schematics you can see an *overall* difference are G6 and Echo.
