Years back in my town, an attack signal of this length meant “nuclear attack is imminent - take cover at once”. Why would a test last this long in attack mode?

MrScottie68 - Because this siren wasn't programmed to pick up the tones to shut it off (which was an accident), and that causes it to do the 3 minute signal, but on this day Kenosha for some reason activated the sirens twice, and the activations lined up to make this go for 5 minutes.

You'd be well advised to do so but ACA does ensure that the siren is mounted high enough so that it doesn't exceed the hearing damage threshold at ground level beneath the siren.
