Erik Torenberg and Samo Burja are joined by Ben Landau-Taylor, a Senior Analyst at Bismarck Analysis. Ben recently published an article in Palladium Magazine about the pervasive problem of fraud in academia. They discussed how fraudulent activities, particularly in medical research, often go undetected due to flawed peer review processes and institutional protectionism. They explore key cases, and possible solutions, including external watchdogs, intellectual authorities and regulatory bodies in maintaining academic integrity.

Academic fraud historically does seem paired with hubris, reputational motives -- but it seems that funding is more a fraud motivator now. Grant writing is a science in and of itself and without grants and published works, research funding just doesn't happen. Sadder still, is the modification of experiment to satisfy the corporate or governmental grant source. This is such an important discussion and it merits viral distribution

Those xkcd memes/comics about academia and research and funding are extraordinary poignant and accurately breaks the problem down to its base problems.

Dang son... only "927 views" in 2 weeks... this needs to change! "Academia" is one of my pet peeve issues... and everyone does the Ostrich and drills their head in the sand whenever anyone actually tries to discuss this issue in a real, non-bias driven, normal form. Its almost an existential issue that could lead to the crash of the entire basal scientific research community in anything other than huge, large, multi-national corporations that pursue actual products for money. This needs to change!

@@Mac-ku3xu So... you're suggesting that you're not answering such questions because you're "not", in fact, "triggered"? You literally got "triggered" by this very video and then triggeredly wrote your opinion on "the vaccine" in a video and comment section that didn't even mention it, LMAO. Anyone who uses the word "triggered" these days is usually the exact ones who are triggered, lmao. You're just a scared girl who's afraid of something as small puny and regular as a vaccine... unlike me, who is a big strong heroic man who is not afraid of the small puny vaccine. I'm not scared of vaccines, mcdonalds, meat, cars, phones, clothes, building materials, or chlorinated water... unlike you, the puny scared girly man. I'm big strong not scared man. Me take many things, no scared. You scared many things, like shots. Like, honestly... how are you so scared of something like the vaccine? There's literally 100s of millions of data points showing that the average person is almost perfectly fine from them... why are you scared about them? Especially with such odds in your favor? Especially when you eat processed foods, fast food, non organic meats, grains and oils, and sugar and carbs, and everything else that is almost certainly actually bad for you? Why are you so scared about them?
