Thanks for this great tutorial. I find it very helpful and I especially like the way you explain everything in detail and not just work through it quickly so that I first have to check what you are actually doing. Of course I will also watch Part 2 and then see if you have uploaded anything else for me. :)

dont know if it was already stated, but you can just create an image plane under view. its a slightly faster way to import an image
@AcademicPhoenixPlus2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I go over it later videos, but thank you for the tip. :)
@TheRaptile6668 ай бұрын
There is a much faster way to bring in your reference: Go to your Front View. From the View Menu select Image Plane > Import Image. Go to your Perspective View, select the Image Plane and push it back.

I've a question, at 9:18, why did you delete the faces? Can't we just select the two faces and click on the "bridge"?
@AcademicPhoenixPlus5 жыл бұрын
Hi Anand, that's a good question. I was making sure that there wasn't any hidden faces, so I delete them and then bridge the edges. however, I tired your method and selected 2 faces and clicked bridge... and it works! So awesome! I love learning new things. :)

any advice on what id do in the scenario that i wanted to model the insides of the shelves?
@AcademicPhoenixPlus4 жыл бұрын
Sure! You would want to model them separately. I would model a separate shelf and then put it into the desk. I hope that helps!

Such a fine and simple tutorial that explains everything! Thank you soo much! Keep up the good work! Why didn't youtube recommend you early to me. Just an awesome channel! I had a question if you don't mind answering: I am always worried that my faces overlap. I am always worried that am I making a specific model in a wrong way. I hear sometimes people say its always necessary and a good thing to make a model in a single geometry. In tutorials I see people making different geometry and just aligning them to make it look like it's a single model. What should I do will you please be able to help me miss? I just don't know when to make a model as a single geometry or make it with multiple geometry. (In future I wish to become a Game 3d artist who makes different game assets)

i have question. first, im korean. So, I sorry that i can't english well. Our professor told us to keep the location and spacing as straight as possible, but you didn't do that in the video. You made it roughly the same. What's the reason? Doesn't that matter? I'm asking because I don't know. Is it okay if things like drawers and desk legs don't fit exactly?
@pinkblood_shinevelvet Жыл бұрын
your video is very good for me. THX :) !
@AcademicPhoenixPlus Жыл бұрын
Hi Yeon, I am eye balling it/guessing where the legs are. If it was a real product that I was making for a client, I would spend more time making sure it was accurate. So if you want an exact replica of the furniture piece, then finding front facing images would be better. Since I only found a quarter view, I mostly guessed. I hope that helps!

is it necessary to set up a project? Because,, I usually save my files in Maya folder which is on the desktop
@AcademicPhoenixPlus6 жыл бұрын
I would say that setting up the project is a Cardinal Rule. Every project should have it's own folders because you can easily zip it up and send it to another artist/client. It also causes less errors. :) Here is a tutorial as to why: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZq0m55nYqtjqdE I hope that helps!

When I'm doing the bridge, why it is making the line at middle?
@AcademicPhoenixPlus6 жыл бұрын
It could be a couple of reasons. one, there's a vertex that is causing the line. or it could be your options, make sure your divisions is set to 0 (zero). I hope that helps!
