Honestly, thank you so much. I have had issues with UV's for a long time, no matter who explained them to me, I just got so confused, but your tutorials have been amazing, it's all starting to make sense now. Thank you!!!!

Hey APP. Great tut! One thing I would recommend is when you want each UV to be the same texel density for accuracy. It's best if you click on a UV shell > Go into UV Toolkit and under Transform + Tools > Click on the "Get" button which will tell you your density > Then click on all the UV shells and next to the "Get" button, press "Set" :)

I've recently found your tutorials and as an aspiring 3D artist, they are life savers your videos are so clear and constructive i'm so grateful for your work ! Quick question, sometimes i accidentally click off the manipulator tool (i think thats what it's called, the tool which allows you to alter the projection of the UV's), how do i get that to reappear so i can use it again.

How can you select faces, edges, vertices, UV map pieces to move them around inside UV editor? In my case, I can't do anything of the above. If I go to select menu, it gives me the only option to select the whole UV map and move it around. I cannot select individual faces, edges or vertices or several pieces of my UV layout and move them around. Either the whole bunch of UVs or nothing. How do enable all those select abilities in UV editor?

I'm confused. What was the tool you used in 2:34 - 2:40 and other times? I see its symbol in the toolbar that shows it being used, but I don't know the name of it. I don't know how you closed the gap.
@AcademicPhoenixPlus3 жыл бұрын
The cylindrical projection only does half a cylinder. You want to close it, so that it wraps around the whole object. I explain it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqauiJV6rMp5j5o Hope that helps!

That's a good question Sarath. Absolutely. If you want your objects to be textured, you need to UV map your item. Have fun with Painter!

G is your shourtcut or its default ?
@AcademicPhoenixPlus4 жыл бұрын
'G' is the shortcut to your last command. So if you extrude, G will extrude again. Hope that clarifies!

What if you combined all of these objects after you fix the UVs?
@AcademicPhoenixPlus4 жыл бұрын
UVs will remain! Nothing will happen to them, unless they are overlapping. Then there will be an issue. But as long as the UVs are separate, they should be good even when combined.

In a studio, if you are doing a very big asset with 5 or more materials, do you still try to keep all of them in 1 UV space? If they are getting very tinny, will it effect the texture quality?
@shakina9049 ай бұрын
Did you find out the answer for this?
@Felix-lg6cn9 ай бұрын
@@shakina904 Yes, the situation will vary. It depends on your texture size. or the allowed texture resolution. Keeping them all in one is preferred by most, an small assets such as a chair/table should be in 1 with no issue. Works great with 1k maps. (As long as you can do a good UV layout) I don't do 3D anymore, if you are trying to be a 3D artist in US, the market might disappoint you.
