I'm glad Affelck won the Oscar. He deserved it more than anyone this past year. Manchester by the Sea was my favorite movie last year and was incredible. A very good, sad film. It's a masterpiece.

there's little things that I notice after re watching it. Like when he makes fun of his car and says "where's the horse that came with it so he can breath on us" lol and when he sees lee's children pics and goes downstairs to ask him if he needs anything. This film is soo real

I loved the movie but I'm just wondering, are there no black people in Manchester area?It seemed off to me not to see any other ethnicities, but I don't know, maybe it is just how it is.

I believe that at the beginning of the film, Casey Affleck's character has a conversation with a black tenant.

if you want to go there, stephen henderson is black, and this is a story about a family who happened to be white. one of the exc producers is also a black woman.

Manchester-by-the-Sea (the actual community in Mass.) is almost 98 percent white, per most recent census information. There are two African-American characters with speaking parts in the film, as others mentioned, the tenant with the crush and Lee's boss, but they appear during the opening section in Boston...which is a much more diverse area. So I think it was done pretty realistically.
