Great video Matt! Love the new title for you for In-box review series. Shake The box , kinda reminds me of shaking my x-mas presents as a child & getting excited if sounded like a model kit under the wrapping paper. Anyway cannot wait to see the build video on it

Thanks! I'm probably going to do a different title every episode :P

I used photos of this kit to skin the 3d-model featured in "Šmer M.C. 72 vs. Academy Mirage III animated dog fight" - video on my channel. The outside parts fit reasonably nicely. So it makes fairly decent looking model with little trouble. As far as you don't look into the cockpit.

just ordered the improved edition of this kit, only because it was so cheap, 17 aussie dollars, love how yours came out 💯👌👏

At the price I would probably get it. Like you I've few jets compared to propeller craft and vast majority in 1/72. It would make a reasonable addition to what I normally have. Nice review Matt.

Thanks! Yea, that's the whole reason I bought it - I thought it was priced wrong in the shop and had to check that it really was that cheap

Haven’t you already done this kit?

I've literally finished it today - this is the unboxing video I made about the contents of the box - build video will follow as it is edited

Hallo Matt I have an request for you Can you make make a video of your model collection?
@ModelMinutes4 жыл бұрын
a great suggestion! I've been thinking about doing this for a while - just haven't had time yet
@cygnusx104 жыл бұрын
With those IAI markings that's perfect for a sand/green/earth fighter. I don't think that the IAI kept the Mirage 3 in it's bare metal finish - could be wrong though. Looking forward to the build video. Kfir next?
@ModelMinutes4 жыл бұрын
I think that there is another version of this available in a more camo colour scheme
@cygnusx104 жыл бұрын
@@ModelMinutes yeah possibly a yellow/green/black scheme? but not sure.... and when I said IAI in my original post, of course I meant IAF. I can't type today for some reason...

Interesting. I have seen this kit in a few places but they come with RAAF decals. So maybe different countries get different schemes and it is a shame that you didn’t get your French Air Force decals.

I think there are a few different versoins out there - sadly I've noticed that Academy doesn't always have the models in the box as advertised

Looks very nineties style kit,basic but potential for some cockpit detailing especially as it is so large a model,you can use scrap plastic and a bit of plastikard,perhaps the next stage in your learning curve doing a bit of scratch built interior ?,nothing complicated,I have a lot of faith in your enthusiasm for building and you take things onboard that is said to assist your model building,it is going from strength to strength. Quite a few kits have been released over the years in Israeli markings like this one as there are quite a few model builders in Israel,one chap did a whole display table at one of the IPMS meetings of aircraft from the Israeli Air Force,but if you really do want a French aircraft there are plenty of suitable decal sheets out there that would be suitable for this,look forward to seeing what you can do with this model,it is a fantastic shape,dont overdo the weathering just a bit of emphasis and no more,remember jets are dull finish rather than too dirty ! best of luck with it.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have finished this kit already (but sadly didn't do anything with the interior as I didn't have the motivation to do so) - there is a finished image on my community posts or on IG

There are much better kits of the Mirage III in 1/48 scale. Eduard has released the IIIC and IIICJ in Weekend Edition and Profipak versions. The most recent release had French markings too www.scalemates.com/kits/eduard-8103-mirage-iiic--1187099

Actually Academy is one of those weird companies...... Their kits look good when you see parts on the sprue, but when you finish the model, there is always something missing with the design of the kit or I don't know, it ends up looking in some ways weird..... I love their P-38 in both 1:48 and 1:72 scale, as those are reasonably good molded and mostly accurate, and offcorse, their new MCP kits are fantastic, but for the rest, I must react meh..... All Academy kits, not including ones that offer you Cartograph decals, are supplied with very bad decals.... They are commonly off register, thick and not realistic.... And I warmly suggest buying extra ones for academy kits, to prevent a horror at the end of the build.... This kit looks poor as it is an older mold with mot much of a detail, but it seams to be a good beginers choise, as Eduard Mirage III is much more complicated, but on the other hand, when one manages to make it, he gets very good quality model of Mirage on his shelf..... I am really looking forward to seeing this kit done, as Izraeli markings would be my choise with this one.... Mirage III was the backbone of IAF druing many conflicts in the highest heat of Arab- Izraeli wars....

@ModelMinutes4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the instructions do say that, and the decals are only for an isreali aircraft. I was just a little annoyed as the box promised french decals as well, but they weren't included
