As far as MODERN country goes he's right. Posty is not only singing REAL country music he even sounds better then most of them. He’s not taking over, just jumping on a trend. Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Zach Bryan, and many others helped push country music back to the mainstream. Pop artists crossing over or dabbling in country is a money grab. That said, Post Malone is a good artist and could make almost any music out there, but I’m not surprised by any artists “going country” at this point. In a few years, when country artists are the only ones left making country AGAIN, these pop artists will go back to their genre.

To me, Post represents one of the first generations that grew up with music sharing online. Literally every genre became immediately accessible for free for the first time ever. Im in my early 30s and grew up making burnt CDs with country, rock, and rap all mixed in. Artists are influenced by so many different types of music these days so its been cool to watch him go in so many different directions with his music. Shit go listen to “Feeling Whitney” from his first album and you knew he had a country album in him one day
