Why isn't he country enough to be there? His previous albums weren't country, but his most recent album is a country album. At least he's not pretending to be country like all those other performers. He was born and raised in Texas; and he grew up playing outlaw, classic country, and folk songs. He's much more respectful than all those modern pretty boys who name drop Johnny cash into their songs to prove how country they are.

He's a bit of a rhinestone cowboy; all the way back to the era of his first album he would perform his rap/pop songs on stage with flashy boots, western suits, and hats; and then do one off accoustic country or folk songs during his concerts. A lot of his songs before his recent country album infused elements of country which created his unique style. He was just famous for his rap/pop songs, he doesnt really take risks and thus didn't make a country album or try to enter the country scene until his legacy was made. He's just as country, if not more than, any other person on that stage
