Absolutely the best conversation and explanation of why only a few artist can cross over into and do Country and be openly accepted. And why Darius Rucker, Kidd Rock and Post Malone have been so good at it and so welcomed by the majority of Country Music Fans. Great job explaining it Jason.

Post Malone has always been a HipHop/Pop guy with a country vibe, so his country sound is totally fitting! I live in Pendleton Oregon (home of the Pendleton Whiskey Fest and the Round Up) and everyone here totally loves him and he came and did Whiskey Fest back in like 2017 or 2018 and it was a major success. So him transitioning into country really does make sense.

White iverson. I think not. Never country. Never will be.
@BourneIdentity453 ай бұрын
He’s always been genre bending he’s never confined himself to doing hip hop if anything he was just lucky white iverson blew up but if you see from each of his albums he’s always had songs on there that weren’t hip hop or pop and each album you could see him move away from those labels to now where his latest album before the country one I feel like his best song on it “Something real” is more rock than pop or hip hop then you have stay or other side which are really intimate songs in their own way each not being rap or pop. Then you have the fact he was raised in Texas with his dad being a huge cowboys fan it’s only natural he’d get exposed to country growing up I feel like if anything he’s on the country segment of his journey as an artist it won’t last forever but it’s what he’s doing right now, the bigger an artist gets the more they have a say so in what direction they want to go in so obviously when he was coming up his label would have prob made sure he did what guarantee returns and profit whereas now he’s just having fun and doing what he wants sure he’s still signed to a label but he has more say so and that’s what I mean by each album he’s gone more and more away from just doing rap or poppy radio tracks like better now is one of those “this song is perfect for radio play” ones everyone can relate to it and it’s catchy af. I think the fact he made I had some help with Morgan brought a lot of Morgan fans to him because Morgan already uses a lot of rap type beats and other parts in his music so in a way it was the perfect collab cause the song wasn’t amazing but there was a lot of anticipation and it just works
