I look forwards your cheerful videos. They really lighten my day in these dark times. Those Fuji colours are looking amazing in these shots. I love using my Sony cameras but I have to admit that sometimes Fuji images are something special. I think the 12mm really adds drama to the images. Though there is nothing wrong with the 16mm images. I prefer the images with more fog.

Some years ago I took a trip from the Hudson valley of NY STATE to get some photography in the coast of Maine, it was a two day trip, the first day I photographed the Portland head light house, twin lights and the Pemaquid light house, the second day I was with a group that was with a Professional photographer that does a Sunrise to sunset photography tour on the southern coast of Maine, we started our morning before sunrise on a rocky cove that offered a beautiful Sunrise photography experience, the day covered many different areas but some of my best set of photos came from the very first location, the cove was horseshoe shaped, on the left side sat a large beautiful house, in front of us stood a loan tree, I was early spring so the tree was leafless. I was able to get a wide angle photo using a 12-24mm F-4 Pentax lens that I was using on a crop sensor body. The photographer that was leading the group went to an area by the house, I decided to stay back with one other photographer to work on photographing the scene in front of me, I knew that the light would change quickly as the sun rose and I was right, the photos from pre sunrise to sunrise were so dramatically different than these few minutes made the entire day. Once the sun rose I was able to see the shore line in front of me and take interesting photos of the different rock formations with the pools of water surrounding them. Staying and working this location was the best decision I made that day.

I wish you fair weather. Acadia is lovely. I've visited 4 times (NJ here). If you have time, while you are there ... West Quoddy (NW of your location - long ride) is lovely too. Further SW is Pemaquid Point, quite dramatic. And if you're driving back home ...further back South is Portland Head (oh so pretty) and Nubble in York. Some say they are overshot, but I still think they look super. They hang proudly on my walls. PS, you convinced me to get an X-T20. And I AM LOVING IT! Thanks Omar. Good luck. Jim

Great info with easy to understand explanations & pertinent details for noobs, inspiring video footage & photos, nice soothing music, cheerful energy & entertaining sense of humor, calm & easy paced speaking voice (I’m super sensitive to sound and vocal tones… having a hard time with the over abundance of obnoxiously loud/fast/disingenuously upbeat reviewers 🤦🏻♀️). Hey Omar. My daughter and I visited the lighthouse last month. I knew the shot I wanted but just could not get out onto the rocks far enough to catch much of the lighthouse from that angle...I wished I had brought up my sons drone..or had a row boat. Maybe it was high tide or something and the rocks were covered.. Fog. No problem, LR has a dehaze button.. Classic... Actually, I see where the rocks you're standing on are different colors and that was probably what happened.. they were under water when I was there.. Your perspective and resulting shots are outstanding. BTW.. The blueberry pancakes from Jordans in Bar Harbor were the best!

Very enjoyable video, Omar. Being totally locked down in my part of the world (Melbourne Australia) I appreciate viewing this. Also, I'm starting to realise that landscape photography is a young man's game. The very thought of trying to maintain balance over these rocks is daunting. And the climb back up those stairs - simply terrifying!

Hi Omar, I really enjoy all your videos and this one stands out for me because I have the Rokinon 12, branded *Samyang* here in the UK, but not the Fuji 16. I’m trying not to be biased here but unless one is going to print really, really large, then for me I’ll not worry about the Fuji 16 because one can still get the 16mm look by digitally zooming in a little in Lightroom etc. The manual focus of the Rokinon is no problem for landscape shooters (more fun actually) and it’s 115grams lighter too. This lens is also great for astro photography. It’s £500 less expensive here in the UK. I love going out to interesting places travelling light with just my X-T3 and the 12mm. Please keep up the great humour and those facial expressions 😱🤡!

I'm so jealous. Acadia National Park is one of our favorite spots in the world. We love the lobster bisque and popovers the sell at the park. My mom actually worked there out of high school one summer when the menu only had chicken and lobster back in the late 1940's I think. One day we hope to get back there but my back hurts just thinking of that drive. I have a handful of semi decent images from the park and I'd like to be able to see if I have learned anything since then and recreate them now.

I dig them both. I sold the 12 in favour of the 16 f2,8 - like the fov of the 12 but the 16 is more in my book and also friendlier with people in shots

Crop factor: XT2 has 23.6mm x 15.6mm frame size so a 35.9mm x 23.9mm (take diagonal) is 1.53 bigger and that is the crop factor. This means a 12mm has the full frame angle of view of an 18.4mm FF lens and the 16 compares with a 24mm. For me, a 20mm is the limit (would be 13mm for the XT2). At some point it becomes very difficult to find scenes where the foreground is interesting enough to fill the big angle. That said, a wider angle can be convenient in cases where it allows you to keep the camera level (front-back) so you don't have to keystone and lose detail. Note that sense of height in your image is seriously affected if you did not hold the camera level.

Great fun video as usual Omar. Both are great lenses. If I had to choose only 1 lens for travel... I'd get the 16. Indeed I had both, and kept the 16mm. If you sometimes need to go wider, you can also take 3 vertical shots with the 16mm and easily stitch them with LR or hugin: you'll get a wider shot with higher final resolution. I like more the foggy pictures as well.

Ah Maine, just across the border. The Atlantic Ocean has amazing tides in these parts, if you're not careful you'll get trapped, which almost happened to me. Beautiful scene. Did you find yourself wanting the 10-24? I don’t have it, nor the 16/1.4, nor the Rokinon. I would have brought my Fuji 16/2.8 and Laowa 9/2.8. 9mm might have been too wide, but you can’t tell until you’re there.
