Have you done a video on Pre Cana? My fiancee wants me to take RCIA classes to be reintroduced to Catholicism. I have a Catholic background but I havent been able to attend church in my young adult age. What would you suggest I do? I mean I told Lily I give her my full blessing and support but am wondering what steps I should take.

I attended catholic school as a child and that was my first introduction into a religion. I have fond memories of praying in the church and listening to the liturgy. My sister became baptized this year and after many years of uncertainty I finally decided to go into the catholic faith as well. God bless my sister for being a wonderful inspiration to me 💕💕💕💕

RCIA was such an incredible experience when I converted to Catholicism last year. Now I'm on the RCIA team and hoping to be a sponsor next year. We definitely encourage people to come and sit in on classes, and we've had quite a few cradle Catholics and non Catholics visit throughout the year so far. Just so incredible to see God work in people's lives. I can't say enough about RCIA and the whole process of coming into the Church! - Also, Fr. Mike Schmitz is an amazing resource, and so is the show "The Journey Home" with Marcus Grodi on EWTN. He interviews people who have converted to the Catholic faith and the stories are quite inspirational.

Thank you for this comment. My family are looking to convert to Catholicism. I really want a faith filled home and school for my daughter. I was briefly told about RCIA when I called my local church. It won't start again until the fall. In the meantime, are we free to attend church or even sit in on any sessions to see what they are like, or does this vary from church to church? Thank you for your time. 🙏

Prior to leaving the Catholic Church were you told by the Southern Baptists that the Catholic Church didn't preach the Gospel. Then after doin your research and now that you are back in the Catholic Church would your feelings be, "When I was in the Catholic Church the first time, it wasn't that the Catholic Church didn't teach the Gospel. It was because I wasn't listening or ready." Many reverts I've studied go through journeys similar to this.

I've joined RCIA at the request of my young son, who was accepted into CCD despite being at that age cusp. He decided he wanted to attend religious private school a few years ago, and I obliged. He recently requested to attend a Catholic school, so I'm trying to support his journey. I grew up in a Catholic home, though never baptized, and he was not baptized either (I felt this was a choice he needed to make). I'm not sure if this is the path we are called to, however I have always admired the Church's dedication to educating everybody in the most structured a d nonjudgmental way. We're excited and enjoy your videos to help us start this journey.

So hard to taje a blessing not recieve the comminion but God legit led me to Him and His church. My spouse is open though not as umm preoared as me i guess i have researched prayed read the bible the catechism etc my spouse hasnt but glory to God did go to mass with me today abd is open. God did this and why my spouse is open and going to join me in the RCIA process at least thry can decide to be baptized and formally enter the church theyll be informed to choose. Pray for us new comers as we nagivate a whole new world to us thats overwhelming. Especially pray by the end of RCIA we both enter the Church together and can be a united home and great support to each other.

I am a cradle Catholic that would really benefit from going thru RCIA. I went thru Catechism and my experience is that being a Catholic in "good standing" is very difficult if you don't attend Catholic school. My niece just graduated from Catholic High School and is much better schooled in the faith than I am. Being Catholic demands a lot from a person- that's why we are "practicing Catholics."

@beautifulspirit7420

Yes, talk to your local Catholic parish, you can have all your questions answered and as long as you do believe The Nicene Creed (Google it!) you should be able to be baptized. If you don't actually believe in Jesus and the Trinity (for example) I would take RCIA classes and see if you change your mind. You do need to believe the Dogmas (beliefs) of the church to be a Catholic Christian. Our Christian faith is the ancient faith and not is based purely on accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, which of course is your first step, but also about how by grace your life is transformed in Christ and how it is lived out. RCIA teaches you everything about how to grow constantly in your faith, establish a prayer life and deepen your relationship with Jesus throughout your life. Basically growing in holiness as we cooperate with his grace in the Holy Spirit to become like Him.

so I went to Catholic church off and on growing up. I am technically confirmed, although I was VERY young at the time and missed many classes, therefore literally didn't learn anything (I was confirmed with a large group and kind of slipped through the cracks). I have not been to a Catholic church since probably my first -and last confession in 5th or 6th grade. (ive been going to a pentacostal church a handful of times this past year but always felt like something was missing). I really want to start from scratch and really learn everything this time, how do i go about this? Its crazy because I really feel a burning desire in my heart to learn (kind of came out of nowhere). Also I now have 2 kids and would really like to introduce them to the Catholic faith.

Start learning on youtube, watch these videos series, the journey home. here you will see a lot o stories about people who converted and they explain what brought them to the Catholic Church also Catholics Answer. Called to Communion. you will find also a lot of recommendations about books that you can read to learn about the faith. Called to Communion and Catholics Answer if you tun them live you can call them and ask questions as well. Once you fell you are ready find a catholic church and Tell them you want to do the RCIA. you have no obligation. if you don't fell ready after doing RCIA you just go and don't get baptized. I doubt you wont. Good luck

There is a wonderful bible study for women called Opening Your Heart that walks you through the Catholic faith. It is written by Lisa Brenninkmeyer who founded Walking with Purpose. As a former Protestant, I had been involved with so many bible studies over the years, but none of them taught me the faith like this study did. I It is designed to complete one lesson a week (5 days) and provides weekly resolutions to help you apply what you have learned. It also includes Catechism Clips with the lessons, which is so helpful for someone new to Catholicism, as well as videos from Lisa's website at different intervals of the study. It is such a well rounded study, I can not recommend it enough!

Luna as you know Wiccan is not of God. However you may have felt drawn to Catholicism because of its sacramentality which is where we make our lives, actions and even material reality holy. Wiccans although misguided, are trying to also effect the material world. I think you will feel Catholic theology gives you answers and the love of Jesus will overcome the darkness that you have been exploring. You are obviously searching and God is calling you to Him!

Also just go and sit in the Catholic church near you. We believe that the bread and wine becomes the actual body and blood of Christ in the Eucharist. The Tabernacle in the Church contains the Eucharist and you will know that because a red light always is lit (just like in the Jewish synagogue). You can experience the presence of God by sitting in the church and maybe lighting a candle. Spend some time quietly with Jesus there and ask him to reveal himself to you.

Get a hold of the Catholic Catechism, it is an in depth explanation of the faith, starting from the most basic and fundamental and getting gradually more detailed as you go through it. Another great series is the Coming Home program on EWTN, in which converts talk about their conversion. Also, don't forget the classics: Augustine's Confessions, Story of a Soul by St Therese, 7 Story Mountain by Thomas Merton, The Cloud of Unknowing by John of the Cross, Imitation of Christ by St Francis de Sales....many others.

It takes way too long though, I have to wait a year to just go into the church which I already so desire more than anything I have ever desired. It feels like a rejection but, I will still go through it unless I can have a Priest do the RCIA sooner. It's too slow and I really really really really really want to receive the Eucharist.
@ACatholicMomsLife

You might want to talk to the priest because sometimes they won't make you go through RCIA if your heart is in the right place. Might want to check into it! I wouldn't want to wait that long either:( . I think they just really want to make sure you know what you are getting into before you commit to being Catholic:) . I hope it goes well for you!

I am a convert from atheism and I love the church. Everyone will let you go at your own pace and make sure you have all your questions answered. RCIA is a great environment because there will be other people like you exploring what it means to be Catholic and what the church believes and teaches. You can decide if and when you are ready to come into the church. I converted at 19 in 1987 and haven't looked back!

@beautifulspirit7420
@beautifulspirit7420 5 жыл бұрын
I would still approach the church and talk to them. If you are living in the same home as your ex but no longer in a relationship there is no reason you couldn't become Catholic. Also, marriage is considered a natural state in the Catholic church, so marriages outside the church are recognized, they are just blessed once you are Catholic. On the other hand, if you don't want your marriage recognized by the church because it is over you can very likely get an annulment once Catholic or maybe your marriage would not even be recognized so there's no issue. The main thing is TALK to your local parish priest. There are very few circumstances which would prevent you being Catholic.

I would suggest you contact a local catholic church and tell them you're interested in joining. Don't take my word for it but I'm guessing it's fine for Catholics to have non catholic friends. No there are no fees. Sometimes there are small fees for books or other resources but these can almost always be waived if cost is an issue. The church will not want financial difficulties keeping you from Christ.

How long do you need to take classes?
@beautifulspirit7420
@beautifulspirit7420 5 жыл бұрын
The classes usally start in the late summer/early fall and run once a week until Easter when you receive the Sacraments at the Easter Vigil the most beautiful liturgy of the year and the high point of the Catholic calendar. If you have never been baptized you will receive 4 sacraments: you will have 1) your first confession (usually the week before) then at the vigil you will be 2) baptized 3) confirmed and you receive your 4) first holy communion, all on that night! If you have been baptized as a Christian you will receive the other 3 sacraments. The sacraments are visable signs of an invisible (supernatural) reality and give us grace to be able to live out our Christian call.

Can Adults Go to Catholic School? None of the schools I attended was the right one for me. I've actually wanted to go to Catholic School for quite some time. I'm 25 yrs old atm but I wish I could go to Catholic School and have a School Uniform. I cannot explain it but I might be a bit Obbssed with School Uniforms Lol. Not a single school I went to had School Uniforms. I've believed in Ascension as my Spirituality for quite some time now but I figured that as of Religion wise I might just be Catholic plus being Catholic has been in my mind roughly a few years before 2014. I also wanted to attend a Catholic School but I fell for those story traps like the nuns as teachers and are quite physically, Vocally Violent. Also during that time, I thought I was gay, then I thought I was Bisexual but I found out that I'm Pansexual. I also get confused as a guy due to birth defects... I used to Attend the Epworth United Methodist Church Apostolic Temple UPC. I am aware of that. They are not Catholics. I am very loved by them despite the fact I was no longer a Christian in the sense of Non-Catholic Christianity. Any Help. Any Advice is very Appreciated. I have Short term Memory Loss so, sry that this is the only one i can remember fully at this moment "With Hope shining from my eyes, I ask for gifts with the bright sunrise. May luck and joy be with all who know that what you reap, is what you sow" Amen. I do have one other but i don't remember the full Prayer. Morning Prayer - Lord in the silence of the new day I ask you peace, wisdom, and strength. Today i want to look at the world with eyes of love. Help me to be patient, understanding, humble, gentle, and good. Please let me see others as you see them. That i may look past appearances, and appreciate the goodness in everyone. Close my ears to all of the gossips and save my tongue from speaking evil of others. Please let only thoughts that bless remain in me. Today i want to be well-intentioned, and fair that everybody who comes to me might feel your precense. Father, clothe me...
