I love Olds trumpets, in fact I bought a Super from you about 9 years ago and had Leigh Mckinney restore it. They are so well built, the craftmanship puts modern trumpets to shame, I even have an ancient Ambassador which just sings despite numerous dents etc

I learned to play on an olds studio!! It was my pride and joy... unfortunately it was stolen along with my olds ambassador. As well as a slew of other items in a home robbery. Ive been trying to find the right one for some time but i cant seem to shake my love for the studio model. I’m in the army now and I don’t get to play as much as I’d like but I’m actively trying to get back into a more dedicated schedule. Great video. Ill buy it from you if you still have it.. along with some of that valve oil.

Ive got an old ambassader long cornet from the fullerton factory 1962 it plays amazing . There great horns .

I haven't tried an Old Studio yet; I want to -- I just got a 1955 Olds Special, and it seems like a great horn. But it's almost completely overlooked : ) It looks almost identical to a 1955 Recording, which is interesting. I just need to find out the difference firsthand.

Channeling a little Satchmo at the beginning there? :) ...I picked up one of these (also LA era-serial # is probably early 1954) locally for $365, lacquer totally gone, so at a large discount, but still in working order. You're right it sounds like a dream, valves are also butter smooth. Your price is fair, that's about what they are going for 'as is' on crapshoot places like eBay (even for non-LA era.) Advantage is you're a reputable business etc.

@@austincustom Oh I agree, my purchase was more of a steal imo, but again, not nearly as good condition as the one you have on the video. These days they also often have Olds Ambassadors (a couple steps down) going for almost as much on eBay when the bidding gets out of hand.

Ok now ! I have an Olds Cornet Tri tone nickel silver bell to bronze flare circa '64 nice sound and oh so versatile depending on mpc. What is your take on the nik sliver to bronze flare build ? Its not just cosmetic. I would say more projection tweaked down for warmth Great site . Love your tone .

all good. except for one technicality: aint no such thing as "nickel-silver". it's plain nickel. has not one atom of silver.

I think a lot of people say nickel silver with silver being the color because it just sounds good
