That 21 Million dollar gap grows to about a 50 million dollar gap in two years when the B1G and SEC get into the heart of those new media deals. I can tell you what that means........UNC is going to be finding a way out of the ACC.

if the ACC would come to a financial settlement with FSU and Clemson would ESPN void the contract in 2-3 years? negotiate downwards?

These small conferences aren’t paying the same amount as the SEC ACC Big12 etc… they’re paying their fair share. Once this settles rules need to be locked down on paying players how much what’s the limits? What’s the rules? then you won’t have class lawsuits again

Even if the B1G school Presidents voted to add one or more ACC teams, the payout wouldn't be anymore than what Washington and Oregon got last year, that's just common sense. Notre Dame is the exception as they are the sole school listed in the B1G media deals escalation clause. It's also fair to assume the suits at ESPN have gleamed this knowledge and probably are happy to match that, thaty my opinion since ESPN just recently balked at paying up for a 9th conference game for the SEC. Since the SEC has fewer teams currently than B1G currently, i believe their half share is a little higher than the B1G half share, but that obviously changes with new teams added. Either way a half share in either the B1G or SEC would actually mean ACC teams would earn less, until the next media deals when they become full share members.

Some already don't care about immediate earnings. What they want to trade is winning a conference championship only to face the #1 seed in a playoff, vs conferencing with the eventual #1 seed as a middling P2 team for the same or eventually more money(paid same money for taking more losses than if in a tier2 league they can win).

The people who run these departments will soon be good friends with those who run the private equity firms.

SO wait....FSU's endowment is only $700 Million and they're just gonna raise $500M from donors for an exit fee? I think that's a tad optimistic. What they should do is ask Stanford or ND to purchase the school from the state of Florida and make it a southeastern branch. That way they could play their footy games and not have to worry about revenue gaps.
@505premoto5 ай бұрын
FSU? Revenue gap? Huh? The only revenue gap that I am aware of regarding FSU is between the $78-81m that FSU earned the ACC last year and the $39m that they got back. That $40m revenue gap went to all the bottom feeders in the conference. Say, your school wouldn’t be one of them, would it?

@@505premoto FSU gonna have Jeffy Zucker and REDBIRD CAPITAL pay the exit fee now....my guess is well over $200M. Letter of capitulation released today.

@@MichaelSmith-xb5cp Capitulation? Bargaining $572m down to $250-280m, less than fifty cents on the dollar, is capitulation? Well then, I am all for it.

@@505premoto 1st we don't know what FSU is willing to settle for, previous speculation was 100 or 125M range, but now that the money perch letter was released, that speculation is up to 300M range....but, the ACC hasn't agreed to anything yet so it could be denied. Could be less, could be substantially more after they crunch future projection numbers. ALL we know is that FSU has indicated they're open to paying anything for an immediate exit and right to field offers from other conferences. What else we do know is FSU don't have the money, it's all based on private equity (most likely Sixth street/ Redbird capital) buying the debt, and FSU being on the hook. Redbird has 10 billion so I could see ACC telling them 500M or we'll just drag it out in courts until your window is effed.

@@MichaelSmith-xb5cp I’m not even gonna respond to that except to say that FSU has the money and can pay to get out of that miserable conference. You can despise them all you want. This time next year, they will NOT be in the ACC and that is the only thing that matters. Then you can go hate on some other team.
