I'm applying to an 12 month ABSN program as well and I've been looking for a video that explains precisely what being in an ABSN program is like. I really appreciate that you included a picture of your syllabus to give an example of coursework and what to expect in terms of course load. I don't think people really know what they're in for until they get into the program so thank you, this was probably one of the most informative videos I've seen on an ABSN program! xo

I decided to get my ADN after receiving my undergrad because it is much cheaper and RN-BSN programs aren’t that expensive either. Accelerated programs will break the bank, but I’m definitely envious of how fast you all finish. My program is two years long in addition to the 1 year long RN-BSN program I am required to complete. awesome video! Very well put together and the ending was cute! I can’t wait for more content🤗

This might be a stupid question but do the classes go faster than traditional nursing programs? For example, doing a BSN program is 4 semesters of strictly nursing courses and a typical ABSN program is 3-4ish semesters of nursing courses as well. So is the ABSN program more rigorous than a BSN program? I’m literally so scared to start my ABSN program and I’m trying to mentally prepare as much as possible
@nurseidalia16102 жыл бұрын
I would say the absn courses you’re learning the same information as a bsn program but in an accelerated pace. So it’s difficult because it’s a lot information to learn in shorter amount of time.

good that u included d syllabus. tnx! i see that u studied 4 quarters...means 4 semesters/2 years? is that accelerated BSN after d pre-requisites? just curious coz I am 61 yes WD Bachelor degree in non- nursing. I have thyroid problem that affects my memory n i knew that Nursing subjects/syllabus r based mostly in Science n Math. i might not be having big problems in Math but i m sure i will have in Science. any advice? tnx

@nurseidalia16104 жыл бұрын
Alexis Castro great question! I don’t think nursing school in general completely prepares you for a nursing job. It more so tests your competency to be able to process and critically dissemble complex material. So if anything accelerated programs prepare you well because it forces you to multi task prioritize and learn to handle fast paced learning. I don’t think any discipline really prepares you for your first job whether it’s law school, social work, or teaching. Hands on experience is what will truly prepare you. Ie. your clinical rotations
