@@Ludo045 Culture defines people more than race does, despite the fact that skin colour and perceived race plays a role to bigots in society, which is sad in itself. But to be honest, there is nothing wrong with identifying with ancestry as long it's done out of appreciation for the heritage. Not (for example) like Elizabeth Warren, who used her so-called American Indian ancestry to further her academic career. Another thing... Ask yourself this: If people feel the urge to define themselves using their heritage or race, it kind of means society doesn't have a place for them in the culture (at least that is likely what some people feel). Like Kwanzaa and Christmas. There is a good reason why people felt the urge to celebrate something besides christmas... And there is also a reason for adopting African culture. Whether it's a good sign for social cohesion and an inclusive society is another thing though. If Jesus was historically accurate, maybe African Americans would've never started celebrating Kwanzaa. Who knows...

The lesson I took from this episode is sometimes there's a reason for every season. Some people are part of your life in the beginning and sadly, there's some people you have to leave behind in order to make room for something more. Huey and Riley have moved beyond the Chicago and unfortunately some people couldn't handle it.
@pittland44
@pittland44 2 жыл бұрын
Well said. That's why I always remember what Ecclesiastes said (and the Birds copied later) for everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose. I've always thought that applied to people as well. There are people who are a part of our lives for a season, but they may not be meant to be a part for all time. The best example I can give is I fell in love with a young lady once and before I started seeing her her mother and I were friends. In fact, the young lady, her younger sister and her mother all saved my life when they helped keep me from killing myself when I was in an extremely dark place mentally. Then things fell apart and while I would have loved to have maintained my friendship with her mother and her sister, it just wasn't feasible. I tried, but when she met her future boyfriend (now husband) it just straight up drove me nuts and I had to tell them goodbye and not go back and see them anymore. There are days I still think of them and wonder how they are, but I figure they're better off without me around and just go on about my business. That's my story anyways, sorry if I rambled a bit.

The life lesson i got from this episode is that no matter what kind of person you are you are always going to have at least one asshole in life who hates you with all their heart and soul for some reason regardless if its deserved or not. In those cases you just gotta leave those haters as they are and not try to be the "bigger man" and make peace because as they say "haters are going to hate" if they want to enemies then so be it. Cairo may forgive Huey when he older and stops acting like a petty child maybe not but either way its not Heuys problem because he wont have to see him ever again and will find better and more reasonable people to be around to call true friends.

Cairo failed to understand that Huey moving to Woodcrest was out of their control. This wasn't Huey's fault. Cairo got angry at him and acting like a spoiled brat. Read he has abandonment issues. Will later in life, this will one day be Cairo's undoing. Just like granddad, Cairo will see that Huey will do good in life while Cairo did nothing in life. Holding on this petty grudge wasted his life and he ruined his friendship with Huey. Cairo will realizes his undoing and see this as his downfall.

I remember my teacher in 12th grade told me people are in your life for 3 categories: A reason, a season, or a lifetime. It’s hard to decipher who’s there for what until life gives you a challenge to find out which category they fall under. & if you real, you not finna have too many people there for a lifetime, just mainly a reason (to teach you a lesson about people or about yourself, like Huey learned when he said “being the bigger person is overrated”.) or a season (You in college, made some good friends, then y’all go off & do y’all own thing individually.).
