I remember seeing this video on Headbanger's Ball back when this album first came out as a young teenager. I used to record all my favorite bands on VHS . I still have all my VHS tapes which is around thirty. I was watching them a few years ago just to see what I had on them and this video was on one of them. I have always loved W.A S.P. since I first heard L.O.V.E. Machine back in the mid 80's as a little kid. I never had to worry about my parents knowing what I listened to as a little kid because they could barely speak English.

I think that "The Crimson Idol" is one of the best W.A.S.P. albums ever.The 1st album will ALWAYS be their finest! "The Headless Children" and "The Last Command" are great as well. There really aren't any"bad" W.A.S.P. albums (imo!) but some aren't as great as others.
"W.A.S.P. are not a heavy metal band, just a Punch And Judy show decorated with chains." This is What Slayer’s Kerry King COMMENTED on WASP.... is kerry king jealous bcos lawless is an amazing and a profound lyricist... he doesn't growl like tom araya but has more intensity and range in his singing plus his histrionics on stage are incredible.... it's like an erratic noisy metalhead degrading and maligning WASP... slayer can never do albums like crimson idol , headless children , dying for the world and last command plus there is music and melody in wasp's song with awesome solos and riffs....
@Cheshyre.9 жыл бұрын
+Musica_aeon I know this comment is a year old, but I feel I must reply nonetheless. If slayer's kerry king had done his homework, he would be grateful for Wasp. They paved the way for a LOT of bands in their long run in the music scene, and besides, they were so metal, they were once banned in Norway.

What's really deep about this song is it's basically telling you what the origin of a tragedy is...Love. yeah. surprisingly, in my area there's not even a rock/metal station (there's a classic rock station but you can only listen to queen and led zeppelin so much in a day) so what i've found is a good way for discovering good HEAVY METAL and things like that (besides surfing around on youtube) is to hit up the annual Mayhem Festival that goes around the country every year. there's always a ton of up and coming really solid metal acts that they take along with em every year.

Every great band has an album which is considered their masterpiece and WASP's masterpiece is Crimson Idol. Apart from that, though, the band has produced a lot of fine records such as their debut, The Headless Children, Unholy Terror, The Neon God albums and Babylon! One thing is true about Blackie... He was never a part of the moneymaking system and I believe that every goddamn metalhead should respect that.

In early 70s, I read an article about ways parents would panish their children. They would keep a weekly record of all of their miss-doings, like spilling a milk. At the end of the week the father would tie up his kid stripped naked to the chair or like in this vid and beat his child accordingly to the number of his/her offenses. That time, I was a kid myself and I had found that disturbing and had wiped it out of my memory until seeing this video. It is awful what sense of power over other human being does to some ppl. Otherwise very cool vid and even cooler music.
@Hammerhead5478 жыл бұрын
What is depicted in this video isn't "discipline" it's outright torture. The only parents who did that sort of thing back then were the ones who shouldn't have had children to begin with, corporal punishment like spankings and "getting the strap/spoon" were considered to be normal forms of discipline and punishment so long as they weren't being done to inflict wanton pain or suffering on the child.
