Found a very informative radio interview outlining the bands early days and how the live shows were always the focus rather than chasing the big record deal. Seems fitting that this album/track is a fan favourite.

It's clear that Chris isn't suited to play Crimson Idol songs. Maybe he could've been up for it in the 80s, but he destroyed his own skills at some point - To where Blackie even had to play some of the leads here?! Bob Kulick & Doug Aldrich delivered some fantastic solos for Crimson Idol, and even Doug Blair has a difficulty with them... Chris is just better off doing his own thing now, because this was a bit embarrassing to watch

@ericdorsey2262
@ericdorsey2262 3 жыл бұрын
Chris is a solid player IMO, he was so messed up back then. As for solos, Blackie called ALL the shots, he eliminated most of Chris's solos live for whatever reasons. Trust me, Chris would not be afraid of soloing, though he wasn't into soloing for 10min like other guys from the era

@@ericdorsey2262 cause he was too fucked up too do them, and this was when blackie found God too. But he never preached it to Chris but rather take the solos away from him so the fans could enjoy, but eventually I think a year later he let Chris go for a second time
