Accepted Animation School Portfolio Review (SCAD, Ringling, SAIC)

Hey guys! In this video, I go through my accepted animation school portfolio and show you how I got accepted into art school. I was able to be accepted from SCAD, Ringling, and SAIC with this portfolio, and I have a few tips on how to get started and what to look for when developing your animation student portfolio.

Cool! I didn't apply to Scad. Haven't checked that school out during my Senior year. I did however, applied to Ringling and got accepted in CA. Nice portfolio though! If you don't mind me asking, Why did you choose SCAD over two other art school?

Thank you! It was a hard decision to make honestly, but it came down to location. After visiting all the schools, SCAD just felt like a right fit for me. I can’t really explain it, but it just felt right!

I'm applying to Ringling, do you have any advice on what they're looking for it art

When I talked to the acceptance representative at Ringling, they told me that they are looking for strong observational drawings. So if you're applying to Ringling, focus less on character drawings and focus more on life drawings, observational studies, and more realistic work. Hopefully that's helpful. What kind of scholarship did you get for your portfolio submission / work??

I can't remember the exact name off the top of my head. Different schools had different names/functions for it. In the case of SCAD, since they don't require a portfolio to apply, including your portfolio makes you eligible for a merit scholarship.

@@trishahartman6125 Ahh I getcha. I genuinely don't remember how much, but I do remember it was recurring as long as I keep a full course load and good grades. Of course, every scholarship deal will be different, but that's how it was for me.

@@BalbertAnimation I submitted it! I managed to finish 8 pieces in a month and actually really impressed myself. I feel more confident that I can handle scad now haha😅

Great portfolio but if I had to make one comment: take it easy on the grim adventures of billy and mandy vore. They say you can never have too much but you run the risk of looking unoriginal if you over-do it.
