tada!!! my accepted art portfolio. i hope that some find this helpful and informative, i tried to keep it brief. i watched literally so many of these when i was applying, so i wanted to leave my mark to hopefully help other young artists like me. once again, this video should be taken as an example, not a blueprint. what really makes a portfolio special is the way it reflects the individual artist!!!

sorry but this is the best portfolio showcase video I have watched so far in my efforts to ease myself in my own process lol. I love the way you introduced a lot of your information, with sketchbook like drawings. Your art is so beautiful to look at. I am not technically inclined when it comes to art, so I always find it hard to connect to digital pieces. However, your first, and especially your last piece were so beautiful to me. Contentment, I believe it was called, made me smile, and think of my best friend (who is also trans). The warmth and love you convey through the piece is simply breathtaking, as digital pieces are something I thought I could not properly relate to before. I wanted to say congratulations on your acceptance to these amazing schools, but I also wanted to thank you. This video has given me a real push to improve my art and get my portfolio done in the little time I have left. You are amazing!

this is genuinely so cool to see. i'm also a trans teen and i'm approaching college (way more quickly than i thought i would), so this was a nice portfolio since usually other ones i see involve identities that feel more concrete than just "what i am inside." not to mention the art itself is both visually awesome and technically skilled.

This was literally insanely helpful. My favorites of the bunch were definitely your traditional pieces even though it seems like you've started to move in a new direction of digital/multimedia narrative work! I think your decision of varying your work was perfect because of your insane breadth of experience. Also, you seem to talk a certain way and as soon as you said magnus archives i was like ah that makes sense. and then you said mcelroy brothers and i was like ohhhhhh ok the puzzle is complete.

I love the mental process of explored your identities. I can empathy your struggle and confusion, especially your RISD challenge piece. I literally dropped my tear and it hovered over my head for several days. I acknowledged that I did have prejudice on transgender people, so I somewhat ignored their situation and struggles. However, thank you for sharing these amazing pieces. I genuinely hope that love, understanding, acceptance and appreciation can be spread out to the people around you!

When I tell you I gasped when you mentioned TMA, I literally gasped. I made all my art pieces based off of TMA last year in my drawing class lmao. Hey! I am about to apply to most of these schools. I didn't know I was applying to art school until spring of my senior year (this year) and so I didn't have time to make my portfolio slowly. I have 10 pieces now, a lot of my schools have a max of 20! Will it hurt me a lot if I only manage to submit 15?

hi!! im no expert and i dont work in admissions or anything, but i think that totally depends on the school. i dont think SCAD would mind, but i dont think Pratt and RISD would be very happy about an entire digital portfolio. i recommend looking up when the next virtual portfolio day is, because then you can talk with the schools directly and ask them yourself! best of luck, from one digital artist to another lol ❤️

haha, good question! i’m currently keeping my options open, but im looking into book illlustration (specifically childrens books or graphic novels) or getting into the animation industry, working in visual development or story artist for film and TV. theres a surprising amount of options that come with pursuing illustration, but its all super competitive. getting a stable job is always a concern LMFAO but im just trying to persue my joy and committed to finding a way to make it work. going to art school really openned my eyes to the variety of work options that are available to me, and helped me make industry connections through professors, faculty, alumni, and classmates.

I was very confused with the deadlines and Fall/Spring 2022, Freshman, All that stuff.. and at the end… didn’t submit my application (i don’t know why and how did I forget about it) I guess I have to try again next year . But I worried that SVA will be extremely more serious with transfer students art portfolio.. is it true?? May I ask when did you submit your portfolio and when did you hear back from SVA? 🤔😅😅
