i thought for sure this was a viral video after seeing ur drawings but this video is so underrated!! ur drawings carry so much life and u can almost feel the inner workings and movement flowing through ur figure drawings!! congrats- ur art is phenomenal

They like to look at sketchbook work cause it shows some of your sketchier stuff which is part of the idea process. Also thank you! These drawings are v outdated now tbh buttttttt I definitely put a lot of time and effort into this portfolio :")

Thank you so much!!! I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND INCLUDING FIGURE DRAWINGS!!! It's important that you show the people judging the portfolios that you have an understanding of anatomy. And especially for animation it is extremely important to have good gesture work. Try to go to live model sessions if you can for the best gesture reference. Or if you need a step in the right direction, look up Sheldon Borenstein's videos on KZbin for some really great gesture reference and lessons. Good luck!!!

Responding a bit late lmao but uhhhh I think it took like 2 months?? I honestly don't remember at this point. I just remember it was faster than I expected.

Yes ofc! I had good grades in high school, mostly A's and a few B's. But it really isn't necessary to have the best grades to get accepted. I think the minimum GPA to get in is a 2.5. The most important thing is the portfolio. BUT, if they are choosing between two portfolios and one of them has better grades, they will accept the student with the better grades. If you aren't the best in school (which, no shame, high school was a dumpster fire of a mess), I would recommend getting involved in extracurricular activities to get a bit of a leg up. Hello. My name is Dante, but I prefer to go by my middle name, Cameron (they/them pronouns). I’ve applied to the Computer Animation program at Ringling as well. I’m currently a beginner artist and what does Ringling look for in an applicant for the Computer Animation program? Do they look for the “perfect” artist? By “perfect”, I mean like a well-polished drawing or painting? Or do they just look for potential?

Hello! From what I understand is that they look for potential. The entire first year pretty much they're teaching you how to draw in the "Ringling way." My main piece of advice is to include mostly observations from real life, ESPECIALLY figure drawing. My entire portfolio was mostly sketches. My fav medium is literally cheap pens. You do NOT have to be perfect. Good luck!!!

hey, can I ask a question? what was your GPA average when you applied, i do have a decent one like 3.20 right now (I'm still in high school so if its lower than expected yeah there is still chance that i can make it better but if I'm gonna be honest I'm kind of scared this might effect my application when i apply even if i have portfolio like yours)

Heyo!!! I honestly don't remember my GPA but you really don't have to worry about it too much. I think the requirement to get in is a 2.5. and the main focus really should be your portfolio. If you have a kick ass portfolio but a slightly lower GPA (which, btw, a 3.2 is not bad at all) then you should be good. Good luck homie!!!!
