Would love to see the earn by time version. Ive been trying it out and notice that mileage can be rough but dollars per hour is actually pretty good, seeing $20-$30 typically. Tend to only see 0-2 dollar tips regardless of distance though. If you can snag it during slower the periods between typical meals it tends to make up for the lack of offers with the time spent on each order but during peak you just lose too much opportunity for better offers while on a long distance drop off.

I dashed for 2 years, with a 98% acceptance rate. I definitely cherry picked, and still did good with keeping my rating. You have to find a good area, and only do that area. My last 6 months of dashing, I used a spread sheet with gas, mileage and vehicle maintenance. After that 6 month period, I quit DD. It’s literally donation service after all the numbers worked out. Fortunately, Dashing was just a side hustle to my full time job, but I would do 8 hours a day and it just doesn’t pan out overall. It was fun though.

Would definitely like to see the same concept done for an earn by time shift! I was also wondering if having silver, gold, or platinum status has any positive benefit for earn by time? I’m not really understanding how they can give you priority to higher paying orders when your rate is already set from the start. Do they just give you orders with higher tips?
@omo70027 күн бұрын
As a platinum dasher who does both earn by time and earn by offer, I can tell you it does have an effect on earn by time. You still get priority to large/catering orders with no change, and some of the orders I get will randomly be a high paying offer (it doesn't tell you, the tip will just be high). Not sure if this is because no one else is around to do it, or because of my platinum status, but I feel like it happens at almost the same rate, maybe a little less, then earn by offer. I also feel like the number of 0$ orders you get is much less (unless it's super busy), and you tend to at least get a dollar or 2.
@RapidValkyrie7 күн бұрын
@ thanks for clarifying!

Stupid way to make money/ do the math: your hard cost for the vehicle is .54 cents a mile… Your time and effort. So you made what 189 but it cost you 54$ and 10hours of wear and tear/devaluation on your car. Uber eats has you beaten “they” never left the office.
@davidhays10997 күн бұрын
I'm hoping you understand the premise of this video, where he specifically mentions that he doesn't recommend people to do this. Smart drivers are picky with the orders they accept, knowing vehicle depreciation matters, and knowing they need to factor in the cost of maintaining the vehicle.

Could you do “accepting every trip radar trip on Ubereats”? You’d mainly accept orders that are like $10/20 miles, etc but since it’s very active, you might see one that’s $30 for 45-60 miles

@mwblank7 күн бұрын
In terms of a delivery bag, I would prefer a 20% larger size compared to the current bag. It should be significantly stiffer and more insulated. Additionally, it should have a much more sturdy and insulated bottom. Furthermore, it should have upgraded handles and, ideally, two insulated cupholders on either end side too.

I've tried 10 hours and only made $190. I could have kept going, but it would not have been worth it as I was already tired, and I had to save what gas money I had left to Doordash my other hours this week. Doordash won't make you that much money unless you have a couple of friends that will work another shift after you're done to have a consistent flow of cash. With a couple of friends changing shifts, you both could technically make $100,000 a year, Doordashing, or more. But, the time required and vehicle costs would make all of that much lower in the end. At least with $100,000 a year income with 2 people, buying a used gas saving vehicle is really easy, especially when it's a car you're going to trash anyway that year. Buy cheap car/change shift with friends/repeat. If only friends were that reliable and could see the benefits of doing so.

This may not work in a major metro area like NYC, Chicago or LA. I have done this in Atlanta with no issues. If I did receive a ticket after doing this 100+ times, the return on investment seems pretty solid.

UberEats has been way worse with dollar/distance pay. Would get an offer of say 7$ to go 18km its less than .50 a km. I get that a km is less distance than a mile but some of the orders are very unrealistic. I did recently get a hybrid vehicle so I can probably justify some of the lesser paying offers since I get better fuel economy but I think what frustrates me most when doing this gig is the traffic in general. I'll get impatient and thing 'screw this, the orders aren't worth this traffic right now' and go home.

I will quickly stop in the middle of a narrow back alley sometimes or double park in a residential neighborhood (rarely) IF a car can still go around. But you're talking Oakland in Pittsburgh right by UPMC during massive renovations. There's offices, hospital buildings, research buildings, students etc in that area. No way I'd ever block traffic in Oakland that's an easy ticket unless they're curbside and ready to go, this customer wasn't.

Plant 🪴 or plant 🏢? Honestly though never been compensated from DD. I am certainly open to all kinds of partnerships but will always verbally disclose that with you (as legally required).

@@tagnbama9001This will never be a standalone job. Because of tax, gas prices, and other factors. This work is good for the stay at home spouse that needs to earn some extra to help their spouse who makes the majority of the income. It's also good for those in college or similar life events. I'm my car, I make the money and my wife is a start at home mom. We need a bit more on top of my income and we can't afford day care. So she does this with the kids and I do it on my 2 days off. Eventually it will just be her to make play money.
