@@AshLordCurry the default port is 5900,5800,5901 why would you port forward it. Your vnc viewer will listen on those ports. Why port forward unless you want to make it harder for someone to find you on shodan searches it doesn't make it more secure. doing it for that reason won't make you more secure.

Thanks a huge ton!, I recently dismantled my old pc from 10 years ago and set it up in a cardboard box to use as a NAS for storing my files on a drive and didn't want to get a monitor just for that since I already own a Laptop. I'm just connecting a LAN cable from my Laptop to my cardboard box (NAS Pc) and this works great for displaying the PC and transferring files from Laptop to PC.

Quero que tenha a possibilidade realmente de conectar de qualquer lugar assim como fazemos com o Teamviewer ou Anydesk, sem ter a necessidade de configurar um NAT, um DNS ou IP Público.

UVNC only accepts 8 character passwords - no more, no less. If it's less, the rest of the missing characters are filled with nulls. If more, it will cut the password down to the first 8 characters. Would have been nice if the uploader mentioned that...

Personaly, I mostly like windows 7. My PC is hecta-booted with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit (I need enterprise because I have many files that I want to keep safe, so I encrypt them with bitlocker, I compress them with win-rar and password and then I re-encrypt them with 512 or 1024 bit protection, so they are safe), Windows 8 Pro 64-bit, Windwos 8.1 Pro, Windows XP 64-bit edition and Ubuntu Linux 14.04 LTS 64-bit. Windows 8 goes pretty slow and sometimes I have serious fps drops (20 fps in windows!!!) and it may stuck for a while. I have 2-way SLI with gtx 690s, so that is not normal. Windows 7 runs pretty smoothly around 18k fps and windows 8.1 at 16k fps. 8 are for tablets, they can't handle the power of a computer, even if it has gtx650 and celeron dual-core at 2.6 ghz. And they are also pretty buggy. Windows 8 is the best choise for netbooks after xp and linux, but it can't handle much power. The pc you have with win 8 you shoulld either upgrade it to win 8.1 or downgrade it to win 7. You shouldn't stay at 8. Answer me if I am wrong

I suppose this has it's merits on one hand if your on the same LAN you could use Ultra VNC to remote from one machine to another... fair enough but.. this leaves me thinking.... Why wouldn't you just use Windows RDP, it's already built in and works fine if your in the Local Network My problem is.. recently Teamviewer (that's i've obviously been using) has started to spit out messages like, it will only allow me to connect for 5 minutes Now.. i need to support my clients with a EASY TO USE FEATURE i don't mind paying for it at all, but not hundreds of dollars a month, i can't justify that, i don't do enough remote work to justify that cost, if i was doing 50 or so remote sessions a month, yeah.. sure, i'd pay for it, but i'm not so.. the problem i have with Ultra VNC is if i try to walk a client through firewall exceptions they are going to get the shits so can anyone recommend a remote software that is a) easy to use for lamen clients, as in.... easy to install and they just need to provide me with a number or something like that. b) doesn't have too many steps involved me personally i don't care i just want it to be reliable and easy for my clients to use i'm in the process of testing god only knows how much remote software but i need to find the solution within a week thanks guys
@lakecityransom
@lakecityransom 8 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing you probably didn't find anything? What you were asking for is a software that will be on the client machine and allow a remote viewing thru its own privileges instead of trying to fight the firewall. Unfortunately that is a big money making business (LogMeIn, ScreenConnect, TeamViewer, GotoAssist, etc) About RDP: RDP relies more on trying to refrain from sending cached data of unchanging image while the other solutions like UltraVNC are 'dumb' and just send images across. However, in practice I had these issues on a slow 60-80kb upload machine at home: -Connecting in was slow because the OS tried to reorganize all the windows into 1 remote monitor -Moving a lot of the screen caused a very slow screen refresh block by block process UltraVNC worked well when I asked it to display in less colors, it handles screen changes much better if you tweak the settings right. At any rate, RDP requires firewall configuration too and computer permissions so its not very reliable in a business sense. You do have the 'allow remote access to this computer' option from start menu but good luck explaining that to non-techie frustrated users during a help call and expecting it to work. Really I think your pragmatic options are: 1. Install/configure UltraVNC on workstations and setup the firewall for your clients 2. Install a remote software managed service solution, ScreenConnect is new on the block and pretty reasonable. It actually works really well now (I used to have Kaseya at work and now I prefer this). *I'd also recommend at least enabling RDP on the workstations so you can get to them locally incase UltraVNC craps out on a machine. Anyways I'd be interested to know what you came up with in the end.

lakecityransom i'll check it out, no question about it, oh, and I have no problem paying for applications however my workload has to justify the expense so several thousand a month for something like teamviewer is not an option however something that's a few hundred for a year would definitely be in my price range at this point in my business I do more onsight work than I do remote work because onsite work makes more money for me. but I have no problem paying for legit it doesn't have to be free so i'll check it out and let you know what I think of it another one I came across in the past is BOMGAR it's like $300 a month or so, but you also have to buy the box which is a few grand that's sort of worth it, but I was still looking for something better. the only thing that I can say that's good about bomgar is that it operates outside the boundaries of your LAN, so it's safe be cool dude

I had a lifetime business license for Teamviewer which cost me a whopping €400 or € 500 including Vat some 11 years ago. You were not allowed to use the latest version, and the customer had to use the same version while time went on. Team viewer is a great remote program, but it appeared a lifetime license lasts only 10 years max. Teamvierwer offered me a subscription having the right to use the latest version for like €35 a month ex vat, but that was a bit too steep for my taste, bearing in mind that I already paid a wad of cash for the "lifetime" business license. Using older versions by customers Is a pain in the neck though, because instructing a customer to download a specific version can be time consuming and confusing for the person in need of support. I would like Teamviewer to have some competition, because it is unparallelled in reliability and ease of use, but the pricing plan is beyond my budget. I would not mind to to pay one or even a couple of bucks per session.
