dude.....yes! I've never been able to go back to older parts Ive made without saving heaps of ableton projects. Being able to drag instances of the virus into a folder to drag back in later is awesome. Thanks very much.

THIS IS IT!!!!!! THE BEST WORKFLOW EVER!!!!!! THANKS FOR THIS!!!! and please make tutorials of your productions!!!! you're great!!!

Cheers, I'll check out the link. I found a workaround by recording the realtime automation, open the automation track for that parameter and then copy the automation data into the clip I want. Works fine! But yeah, native clip automation in Live 9 will be great. Looking forward to it!

I have a small computer so i have to bounce to audio all the time, and it's really difficult to come back to something you have done fx compression and all, i am looking for technics that would do to that with my minitaur and Vst, and interestingly enough i just bought a snow last night, i feel blessed by this info you are sharing, coming from you means a lot, thank you so much!

I think it was cool how you made a rack to recall a specific 4 part group that was cool. However you dont need to use the mod matrix to do filter sweeps. You can use the cutoff just like you were going to do in an automation lane but you can do it in clips. I mean you can do it the way you are doing it but you made it sound like it wasnt possible to use cutoff so your workaround was matrix. And its not global unless you change the part sound its not global over the 4 parts.

automation for each part is possible at the same time... maybe because of the software upgrade i don't know... just hit record and + it show every automation of every part that have been tweaked....
@DigitalRustMusic8 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's possible. Halfway through the video you'll see why I came up with this. To allow recall of automation for more than 4 parts.

You need to set an audio track to record enable and make sure the input of that track is set to the virus. You shouldn't get that error if you're recording in realtime. It sounds like you're trying to bounce to disk.

hi rdomain, clip automation will be there in ableton 9. but maybe help this in live 8....search this on youtube. Access Virus TI 12 workflow in Ableton Live....special thanks to DigitalRustMusic!!!!!

thanks for reply, I record in an audio track, the input is set to the virus. After this I bounce the file from that audio track to the disk, because I want to bring it in my sample library. Sometimes it works now, but sometimes not (that means, after bouncing the length of the wave in the library is longer or sometimes shorter then the original recording) ... Still don´t get it :-S

DigitalRustMusic Good video, real helpful! Is everything just going out USB1? How would I have USB 2/3 for other sounds like lead or fx? Cheers
@sebastianmendezb6 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for the video. If I'm getting this straight, this should allow me to have clip-specific automation, as opposed to automation for a Virus track (which is shared by all patches on that track), and it is for a maximum of 1 parameter per track, as the only available envelope is Mod Wheel. Correct ?

Awesome video, taught me a few things, might have to adopt this method. Terrible color for Audio!!!!
@ShadowBoxerDNB10 жыл бұрын
Surely you can assign each part to a separate MIDI channel and use the Cutoff and efx separately on those channels? You can on a Virus B in Multisingle mode.
@DigitalRustMusic10 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can, but the reason I came up with this approach is to solve the problem of trying to use more than 4 tracks. Check out the video and you'll see about halfway through.
@ShadowBoxerDNB10 жыл бұрын
Ah right, so over 16 MIDI channels as a posed to 4 parts?
@SnowLionheart12 жыл бұрын
hi again, I´m working on my setup for ti and ableton live already 2 weeks :-S ... I still have problems with recording. I get the same result like you in 16:30-> the file is recorded, and in your audio track. BUT, how can I bring it to the library ? If I want to render to disk, or even consolidate this file, I always get the error message: "Offline rendering or freezing to disk of virus ti tracks is not supported" ... Whats your workflow on this ? Or anybody else can help ? thanks a lot!!
@rdomain11 жыл бұрын
Thanks for showing your workflow. I recently bought a TI2 and I'm just sorting my automation options. I like the concept of the automation in the clips but is there a way to record the automation data in realtime via a softknob (or any other) on the virus? I'm not having any luck with this. It does it fine if recording automation into the 'master' but not into it's own clips. Thanks.

exactly what i am struggling with.. i have another question.. if i change a parameter for a preset one lets say my first track.. lets say i increase the attack.. later on when i go back and load the folder.. you said it recalls the presets, so does it recall those parameter as well?? thanks man

Yes, definitely. That's the beauty of using the matrix with midi CCs
