Thank you for this help! I just got new Virus TI2 Polar and did not work on any versions of Mac OS! So had to use WIndows and updated firmware then able to use Virus Control and plugin. Mac hardware and OS is broken now for this synth and many other hardware issues. Had to revert to Windows PC, ugh!

Was looking for a guide on setting up my Ti2 Keyboard with Ableton Live, this vid sorted it. btw, I watched a ADSR tutorial vid on the Access a while back which i think was done by you, It was really good. I was gutted cos I couldn't make out your name but hoped that you did/do more tutorials as you explain things really well. I suppose you wouldn't have given a shout out to your own KZbin channel while working on someone else's. Glad you got a channel and that i found it. Going to watch as many vids as I can tonite, u-Hive, etc....
@SoundDesignTutorials9 жыл бұрын
yeah.. I did them for ADSR. .. Glad you like them. Which other synths would you like focus on?

Sound Design Tutorials tbh, I'd love to see more on the Access Virus, hopefully others that watch your vids will also encourage you to do some more, they are very technical, like when you explained the lfo rate stuff in the Sylenth pad vid that I watched today as well. I think i mentioned this on Access Virus Vs Sylenth vid I've see so many vids where ppl do that stuff like that, you see it, they talk but they don't demonstrate and sometimes you need that also, others may laugh but i found the hand movement reference of the lfo key in understanding completely.

If you want to automate individual parts you can assign what you want to automate to the modwheel (for example) in the matrix and then use clip automation to adjust it. It allows you to 'automate' parameters in each part as it's not doing it globally.
@rod_reb90998 жыл бұрын
do you still work this way or there is an update with that problem solved? thanks mate
@PK-ct1bm9 ай бұрын
No need to. The modulation corresponds to a specific channel/part now. Maybe due to an update. @@rod_reb9099

+Lupin Ownstyle That makes no sense to me either...I thought there are 16 channels?
@willp37542 жыл бұрын
It is not true that you cannot automate the individual parts - first, you have to click 'configure' on the plugin, then select the parameter you want to automate, from any part. All the automation is drawn or recorded into the track that the plugin lives on. You can separately automate individual part parameters there once they have been configured, though. Maybe this was not possible when this video was made but it certainly is now.

Brilliant Tutorial - closest I've gotten to get the TI2 to work with Live. I still got some impressive noise before the sounds - on all 3 channels. Any idea what might cause this?
@aslegu4 жыл бұрын
I will reply myself... as I fixed it. Turned out the midiisetup on my mac was pretty messed up with all the synths I have had coming and going, so clean it up and rebooted the TI2 and voila! :)

Hey, thenks for this tutorial! can i ask quickly - what is the point to hava 16timbrel synth if you only can use 3? what you are doing with the others? and what is the reason for you to switch from virus ti snow to virus ti? thanks!
@Steve-Tr1Bz2 ай бұрын
You can use all 16 via midi cable, usb midi only can have 3 due to virus using usb for both midi and audio

Hi mate. Thanks for the video. Find them all really helpful and bought your Virus course from ADSR:) Everything went OK for me but all the USB options are greyed out for me. Not a massive issue but can only route 2 channels through Live. Would you know why. I do have the Virus plugged into my MacBook via a powered D-Link USB hub, not sure if this could be the problem.

when you plug it into the USB port built into your PC it's not in a HUB it's on a (typically) PCIe slot. if you use an external "hub" you will run into issues with your Virus TI - at least I have.

Very nice tutorial! But there is one thing I don't understand: How to assign a midi channel to each part of the virus? I did exactly what you told, and it works, but there is always bugs. Is it possible that midi conflicts make problems? Thanks!
@music-drive10 жыл бұрын
Personally i think a better way of setting up the Virus is to use the "External Instrument" device for each of the 3 channels rather than separate midi and audio tracks.
@SoundDesignTutorials10 жыл бұрын
yep, That is another way. But i think to use the external instrument plug in the virus would have to physically be patched into your soundcard via stereo audio cables.. for it to show as an input inside the external instrument.. This is a way you can use all 16 channels of the virus, but you would probably need a mixer and a lot of cables.. That's the Beauty of Ableton there are many ways to achieve the same result.. This is my preferred way as i only use the usb cable to connect it to my pc . that's it.. Everything else is dealt with within Ableton...
@music-drive10 жыл бұрын
Sound Design Tutorials No, no, not at all. That's whats so great about the External Instrument device, it's versatility. The audio can be routed from "virtual" outputs as well as physical ones (it certainly picks up the 3 virtual outputs from my Virus snow). So it can be used to control and route external gear, as well as routing multitimbral instruments such as Kontakt, Maschine and the Virus (it can even be used for Rewire channels). It's probably my favorite feature within Live because of this, it allows you make Live your "hub" for all the different bits of kit and software apps.
@SoundDesignTutorials10 жыл бұрын
I Didn't know that and i've been using live for a while now... when i clik on the audio from section of the external instrument, i only get a list of in puts on my soundcard... ? Maybe be you could let me know how to do it.. i'm sure i would use it to set up multiple outs for kontakt or battery? i could do more tuts on these ?
@music-drive10 жыл бұрын
Sound Design Tutorials It's quite simple really. Obviously you have to have the plugin open already. Then open an external instrument device and select the plugin (in this case the Virus) in the midi part of the External Instrument interface. Once you've done this the virtual outputs will become available in the audio section. Like i say, this is the same for multitimbral instruments such as Kontakt and Battery as well.
@voliteon6 жыл бұрын
@Gareth Thomas I'm glad SDT did this tutorial and not you. Your explanation is anything but "quite simple". I don't doubt it's possible, but you're not very good at providing clear instructions.
