This is a really cool video. I'm not visually impaired myself, but I want to make video games one day and when I do I want to make them accessable, so seeing videos like this that talk about what helps and how accessibility can be done really helps

This is so great. You can play games and order some Dominos...wait, They aren’t accessible. This just shows what is possible when people care
@myvisuallyimpairedlife56745 жыл бұрын
Hahaha, you are so hilarious Chris! I absolutely love you my friend. By the way I get baptized tomorrow. Thought you would like to know. I cannot wait! And yes I agree it stinks that we cannot get a Domino's pizza and play an accessible good video game. But we will eventually because they're going to lose their lawsuit and they will make that website the most accessible one in the face of the internet world. Lol I have a friend that I did not mention in this video who works for blizzard entertainment The people that make Diablo etc. He is completely blind and has been since birth. And he designs video games for their company. so I know for 100% fact that excessive games are on the horizon for all of us. So eventually I will not be playing a little bit of games here and there I will be able to fully submerge myself once again just like when I was cited. And you will be able to as well with your kids. Thanks for watching listening Chris always a pleasure to rhear a comment from you

Hey Vincent! I love video games as well and I am visually impaired. Hadley discussion group Tech It Out had a discussion about accessibility in gaming. Also Microsoft is having an gaming accessibility webinar next week. Xbox One has a great magnifier on it. The games I play the most on Xbox One are Spelunky, Costume Quest 2, South Park: The Stick of Truth. I also have emulators on my computer, so I can play older systems.
@myvisuallyimpairedlife56745 жыл бұрын
I have a lot of old retro games myself on emulator but usually only the ones that I have on cartridge. So I don't have to wear out my cartridges and I can keep them nice and need in a box. Lol But I do have ever drive cartridges stuff like that. I can play the ROMs on the actual consoles which is cool. Thank you so much for this awesome info I will definitely be looking into it and hopefully they put the conference on KZbin. Love to listen to it. I have never owned Xbox consoles not that I have anything against them just always like spending my money on Sony products. But perhaps now I will have to go get me an Xbox one. Again thank you for the advice and it was a pleasure hearing your comment. Hope we chat some more

It is really awesome how much cool tech there is for us. I am not a gamer but I do watch a channel by Jesse Anderson called Illegally Sighted. He has tons of videos on accessable video games. He also does AT videos that are great.
@myvisuallyimpairedlife56745 жыл бұрын
Well thank you very much for this information. I will be checking out his channel in about 2 minutes. I will subscribe and ring that bell for him and I will let him know that you sent me. I am so excited that games are becoming more and more accessible to us. It meant so much to me to be able to play Minecraft after two years of nothing. I felt like a gap in my life was closed but then reopened. I still had a lot of trouble playing Minecraft however I was able to play even a little bit made me so happy and gave me confidence that down the road games will be completely accessible. Thank you for watching and listening to the video.

Hey Vincent - whats. great intro to the video haha - made me chuckle a lot. Your excitement for this is palpable, and never before have I seen so many games and play stations/consoles, other than in a shop lol. I personally hate video games - not for any other reason than I suck at them - when I was fully sighted, I sucked. I used to play them with my son when he was younger and he would always be shouting Dad, Dad, over there, get him, shoot him, turn left, turn right ..nooooooo dad, not that...dad, you've killed me! lol My eye to hand co-ordination was terrible lol. However, Im chuffed you can once again enjoy your passion my friend Have a fabulous gaming weekend, and catch up with you in the next one

I'm glad you enjoy the intro. I had a ton of fun making it. I had a couple others that were just as funny but that one just was the best out of them all. and just because you were horrible at playing video games before does not mean anything. Perhaps when games become accessible using your other senses you will find out that you are a master at video games. only time will tell my friend. Thanks for watching listening to the video always great to hear from you. I was almost upset that your comment wasn't as long as normal. Hahaha

Awesome video! I was a huge MMO player before I lost my eyesight! My favorite game was final fantasy 14 i’ve also run across being able to login with audio description but no help after that. Hopefully more and more games will start coming out with the blind in mind when they start creating them.

Well I can tell you one thing if there is any games out there that will be accessible probably first. It will have to be a mmo type games. I actually have a friend well I'll be honest and say an acquaintance. That I no Fur effect develops video games and programs for blizzard entertainment. Guess what, he is completely blind and has been since birth. So what should that tell you. if ever you were to have confidence and video games and their future for excessibility hopefully I just gave it to you by telling you that a little bit of info. It's coming our way my friend you will be on final fantasy before you know it. Just going to have to learn how to play it in a different way. Thanks for the comment

Oh it's a ton of fun I always end up going back to that video game. I've been playing it for years and to know I can still play it a little bit today is amazing. However I will admit I had a hard time trying to go mine. I ended up staying above ground building while my son went and mind for minerals. but do not thank me for the shout out I say thank you for giving me the idea for this video. I knew about the switch accessibility functions however I probably would not have tried to play a game until my son told me about Minecraft. But it wasn't until I watched your video that I had the urge to give it a shot and I'm glad I did. If I come across any other video games in the future that have accessibility features on it I will be making more reviews. Enjoy the rest of your week my buddy

GameCube was definitely an amazing console. One of my most favorites. I am glad that you were going to try Minecraft and definitely get it for the switch it has the best available accessibility features out of all consoles so far. Also, I am 100% confident that games like Zelda will be made accessible. There's so much high contrast in those games and could easily be made accessible for us. accessibility is advancing so fast that eventually future console games for Sony, Xbox, Nintendo etc will all be automatically accessible to the point where we need no vision whatsoever. thanks for watching listening to the video and keep me posted on Minecraft. Let me know how the game play was for you in a future comment. Would love to know

Nice video buddy. I tried playing PS4 a few months back with its accessibility features and wearing a gaming headset. I played call of duty using the sound design of the game to navigate and play. But like you mentioned the nostalgia was not there, it was not the same as before playing with sight for me. I could not get into it like before
@myvisuallyimpairedlife56745 жыл бұрын
Yes that is one of my biggest problems now that I'm visually impaired. Then nostalgia is just gone. but with the more accessibility features that come out down the road we're just going to have to find a new way to enjoy these games. I would love to be able to try to play a call of duty game or battlefield. I was actually pretty good at rainbow six. My son and I would totally tear s*** up. Lol But hold on to the fact that we might still be able to get that nostalgia down the road. I was thinking maybe one day someone will invent a console that plays old retro games with accessibility features in mind. who knows maybe you and I can invent that ourselves. We'll be rich. thanks for watching listening to the video my friend. Hope all is going good and Justin's world.

I have a feeling that next year, minecraft will have so much more features to help us out and the font style is way to hard to read anyway lol I can zoom in and out on a game on the xbox one, but I cant keep the zoon on and walk around and move the camera at the same time, so nintendo wins on that one. I will post this on blind awareness now... great work man and keep gaming :D

Add to dub it down dramatically. There is so many more successful video games out that I could have mentioned but they are all in the works so I thought maybe future videos for those. Thanks for your help on the information and my research trail. Glad to have another video game of friend especially one with LHON. Lol And thanks for spreading the video. Are there music or sound clues! You know that game MYST? A lot of very slight sound clues were in parts of that game. I finished it as a sightling. The last thing I played sighted was Crash Bandicoot! Hee! I felt like Crash Bandicoot immersing myself in long cane practice, every day! I crashed into the backs of several open truck tailgates, and side view mirrors! I shook it off like Crash Bandicoot and kept on going. Wore a hard visor, and some Yukon Crews shades built for cutting torch use. 5.0 polarized tint. Helped save some of my face on the hundreds of crashes. Grins!

I am glad you have been playing Minecraft. It is such a great game. Believe it or not Minecraft saved my relationship when it comes to my son and I. I would have still been a great dad however he lived eight states away from me for reasons his mother decided I will never know but it is what it is. So many years I tried to get there as often as possible but for the times I could not be there physically my son and I had video games fall on. Minecraft was that one game that my son and I could play during the weekdays and keep a great relationship together. I think video games can be a very positive thing when it comes to parenting if you lies it in the right way. I never wanted to be that dad that said see you next weekend. I like to be there each and every day if possible for my kids so if I can't physically be there and I can do it over a phone a microphone or even a video game that makes me a happy camper and feel like a good father. My son is now a full-grown man. Soon he will be graduating high school and we could not have a better relationship. I'm glad you watched and listened to the video and I hope things are going great for you and your fam. I will be watching your videos as they upload as always. Thanks for the comment, I have 3DS as well. However it's a pokémon Black and white addition still in the box. Last thing I want to do is hack it. Lol. Although it's probably the only console I own, that's not hacking some way. Lol. I didn't even remember making this video. It's been so long. Listen to it and I was laughing at myself. Took me so long to get to the point! I should remake this video in the future. A lot has changed in video games accessibility. Especially when it comes to Minecraft on the PS4 and the switch. It works far better on PS4 now than it did when I made this video. In fact, I use it more on the PS4 now due to the fact that my daughter now being 7 years old uses the switch to play with me on co-op. It's better in the PS4 now cuz it even reads all the objects in the inventory out loud. Don't have to strive to zoom or anything anymore. Thanks for the comment and I'll look into the 3DS fact that you gave me. I'm now curious!

Sad to say, I gave up playing video games about 10 years ago. The last one I was playing consistently was Doom, but it got too hard. I loved playing because it was a good stress reliever. WoW was a nightmare to me eventually as I had a very hard time resurrecting. Once, I think I ran past my body three times before I got a clue. I like that developers are at least trying to make games more inclusive. It wasn’t like that years ago. (I’ve been in the business since an Atari 2600)

Well, do not fret my friend. I have a feeling you will be playing Doom once again. They will come out with a newer version and it will be so accessible you'll be pooping bricks. Lol Doom was a great game I tried playing it on the switch just couldn't do it way too much going on too fast.

I’m actually a little surprised Nintendo hasn’t followed Microsoft/sony’s lead in introducing a screen reading feature for their consoles.

Thank you for enjoying the video. I as well as you hope for all the best in future gaming. I know for a fact because I have met a person that is blind and makes a video games. And he works for a big time company that we all know. But that's all I can say on that. However, he is currently developing games for the blind and visually impaired. So games are coming our way. They are going to get even better and I am assuming it'll be even better for us when it comes to VR headsets. I know there are certain fighting games where when you start losing life your meter starts to beep or your controller starts to vibrate. So there are accessibility features come in slowly each and every time they put out a game. I am only assuming that these are not huge costs to add to the development of the video game itself. but certain big companies like Blizzard entertainment and others have stated that they are going to start making video games from the ground up with accessibility being first in line. There is a lot of PC games out there already that are made for the vision impaired and blind. And slowly it's working its way to consoles. can't wait but I have patience it's coming our way my friend. Hope to hear more comments from you
