Ingrid Andress: 'I Was Drunk' Singing National Anthem

Ingrid Andress is breaking her silence over her viral national anthem performance at Monday night’s Home Run Derby in Arlington, Texas. On Tuesday, the four-time Grammy nominated artist released a statement on Instagram which began, “I’m not gonna bulls*** y’all, I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night.” The 32-year-old then apologized for her rendition, adding, “I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is, I hear it’s super fun. Xo Ingrid.” Ingrid’s performance sparked a major stir on social media, with many criticizing it online. “My ears are bleeding. One of the worst national anthem renditions ever,” one user wrote on X, while another said, “I'm so sorry, I'm sure Ingrid Andress is a wonderful person, but that was one of the worst national anthems I think I've ever heard in my whole life.”

She just may be unaccustomed to being so inebriated when performing drunken (which Amy most certainly was). But just think. Someone who’s regularly drunk can seem to function better than a “newbie”to the game. I mean, Elvis Presley (to whom Ingrid surely CAN’T be compared as a singer) couldn’t recall the lyrics sometimes, but he was regularly able to put on a solid show. He was experienced at it. However, when he wasn’t able to perform, it was just as disastrous (which even Whitney sometimes experience. Folks can hear of how terrible she was at her “Clive Davis Birthday” show). It was just as sad! Ms. Ingrid (especially now) needs our support, not our jabs. Personally, I wish her the best. She’s a great singer/songwriter, and (most importantly) she’s a great PERSON! 👍🩷

I have never heard this woman sing and I was today old when I first heard of her. Based on what I just heard I was shocked to learn that this is four-time Grammy nominee. @@richardmyers7847 Actually, autotune couldn't fix all this.... some, probably, but it tries to snap the off-pitch note to the nearest actual note pitch, if you are too far from the right note, autotune will snap you to whatever note you're closest to, and to the wrong note... if it's recorded, an engineer can manually move them to the right notes but live, no. 😁

Kindness don’t cost a thing. Singers rely on their ears for pitch, so if what you sing comes back to you 10s of milliseconds later, you’re going to be hunting for the note, it’s just the nature of a performance like this. If it was just that she would normally use autotune because her singing is this bad, then she would not be working in music. No autotune can help that. I would forgive this even if she wasn’t claiming to be drunk. If she genuinely was drunk then that’s unprofessional, but I get it.
